Now I know Efi named Orisa after Orisha the spirits reflecting one of the manifestations of the Supremem Divinity in Yoruba religion, but what if the name was also picked due to the pieces and original modeling being OR15. If she made a new and improved model she could have code named it as OR15-A, thus the name Orisa.

I think its the OR15 thing. IIRC when Orisa came out, we had lots of robots/mechs whatever NPCs in World of Warcraft which also had similar names (numbers instead of letters).
I actually didnt know about the Yoruba thing, I always thought it was just a way to humanise the more robotic OR15, since a real name is a bit more relatable than a serial number. Thanks for the added info!
I definitely think from a developer standpoint the OR15 thing played a contributing factor, but they must have decided on other lore in order to truly format the name to the character.
They had the hero name before the lore.
I wonder when they decided the name. Did the OR15’s exist because they already knew the name years in advance? Did they make OR14’s because they knew what the future held and they needed the OR14’s to have a predecessor so they could generate a working name?
