Interesting thing about the blog post

There was a section where Aaron said they tried 1 support and it felt awful.

Yet more and more I see support are now doing more damage than actual healing in the majority of the games I’ve been in, realistically there is only one actual support.

Alright,

have fun when you get the support that’s “doing nothing” in your team, if you limit the support slots to 1.

It’s not about healing. It’s more likely about that support player being focused on so heavily.

I’m not saying that, its just interesting to me because the majority of the time the support at least 1 of 2 is actually doing nothing but damage.

No, I’ve watched plenty of Lucios skate off into their own thing, only doing self healing.

It would be the same as the tank roll now.

No matter what people say, you still need a main healer in your games to function and solo healing is stressful as hell for the support, who is not solo flanking. If you would only have one support, they would need to be more overturned than tanks are currently and nothing should die until they die. This would lead to “kill the support first” and support becoming the new bottle neck.

Also I dont think people want something like 120 HPS Mercy with 400-500 HP, because that is what it would become.

How do you think solo tanks feel when you have no one focus firing down the flyers? This is why the solo 5 v 5 tank is terrible to play. Leaves a bad taste in most players mouths.

But the solution is NOT to reduce the amount of supports from 2 to 1

It was also not the answer for tanks. I know the streamers and supposed testing of 7 v 7 was bad for viewing, however most FPS invitationals is 8 v 8. I think 8 v 8 would be better overall.

And 6v6 with all the new graphics and background stuff needs to be evaluated for multiple seasons to see if its even possible to have now 12 instead of 10 in a game, but you now come with 14 or 16 players?

People really need to THINK about what we know, before throwing something out like that… 8v8 sounds like a lot of fun with 3 DPS, 2 tanks and 3 supports, but they would need to end support for switch, old consoles and old PCs for this and need more players per match. In ranked this could be kind of destructive.

Good idea, but not realistic.

How many of the console players are peak OWL players? Meaning they play those matches on their preferred console. To hold back QoL changes for possibly a sliver of your current player base is asinine. Also there should be a tournament mode where only full teams can play. But but latency/ping is not fair… look I am sorry you live in whatever location and your only option is 56k but we are not holding back for a small percent.

I was going against ppl on cable, t1, and t3 constantly on my crappy 28k modem connection years ago. I had to learn to prefire, angles, and maps to stand a chance. Well this is different times… ya and to be held back by console gamers is a huge issue. Why we even bother updating PC’s if the consoles are multiple generations back?

The game overall plays better casually as 6 v 6. I would say 5 v 5 fail with their want of faster pace games because the tank role is bad especially solo. So they kept juggling to try to make some appeal for it. Damaging the quality of what once was a good game to play. The thing is you can see for yourself or watch others who usually tank become more relaxed on other roles.
