I don’t know if this has been pointed out before, because I rarely ever visit the forums, so I wouldn’t know. While playing in the training area, a training bot (the one that is continuously shot and killed) says an interesting line after being revived by Mercy.
"Where was I? There was this bright, white light."
It could be the light from Mercy’s revive ability, or it could be some sort of supernatural entity, like “The Iris” that Zenyatta talks about. If it was, infact, the light from Mercy’s revive ability, then that would truly mean something. The fact that Mercy even could revive the bot means that the bot has a soul. Because in the game, the way Mercy revives you is by getting close to your soul. And it seems like the training bot was in the afterlife, and then brought out of the afterlife thanks to Mercy. If the bot DIDN’T have a soul, then it would not be mentioning this “white light”. The fact that the bot even NOTICED said white light, even though it was DEAD, is yet another indicator pointing towards the possibility of Omnics having a soul. If Omnics do indeed have souls, then the question, “Who gave the Omnics a soul?” is raised. A soul cannot be created by mortals. So then the one that gave the Omnics a soul is most likely “The Iris”. But then the question, “Who is, ‘The Iris’?” is raised. Blizzard might probably explore who this “Iris” entity is if they ever get to release a Zenyatta animated short.
This is just my theory about this line that the training bots say when revived. I think it’s a pretty cool theory, and could mean that the lore of Overwatch and it’s universe is much deeper than some of us might think.
