Intel or AMD processor?

Hello everyone! I’m thinking about building a new computer soon, but I am wondering if I should go with the Ryzen 5 2600 or the intel core i5 9400 for my processor. What do you recommend?

I think they’ll both be great. The R5 would probably run better with more ram, the i5 isn’t as hungry.

Actually that’s more for if you’re going to be doing other power intensive things. As long as you have at the very least 8gb of ram (I recommend 16) you’ll be fine with either.

Depends on your graphics card. Do you want an RX or GTX?

Intel and Nvidia go together and AMD goes best with AMD

It really doesn’t matter. For the longest people got Nvidia and Intel just because it was better. Nvidia is still better than Radeon, but it works just fine with AMD. (AMD and Intel are pretty close to the same performance, both are good options)

As far as I know, Overwatch is better tuned around Intel and Nvidia chips, but AMD will work just fine. Just pick a mix of higher clock speed (3.6hhz+) and a 4 core+ and higher thread count. Better cores and threads will serve you better though.

Went from an i5-4690 3.5ghz (3.9ghz turbo) 4 core, 4 thread CPU to an i7-4790 3.6ghz (4ghz turbo) 4 core, 8 thread CPU and the difference is night and day. Framerate boosted about 80 frames steady, and all my other hardware stats have all stabilized if not under less strain.

Neither, and the end if this month AMD will announce the release date for Ryzen 3000/Zen 2 CPUs. If you can hold out, you are likely to get the best value for your money when they drop.

I am most likely going to be getting a Gtx 1660 as my graphics card

R5, cause of the latest intel security problems. AMD is not effected.

My friend uses a Ryzen R5 processor and GTX1060, he plays games like Siege and OW all the time on it.

Thank you for telling me! I didn’t know that new chips were coming from AMD so soon!

Ryzen cuz AMD always provides better performance with cheaper price.

I play on a Ryzen 5 1400 with a 4gb RX580. Pumping out 130+ frames on epic settings. 1080p.

I’d go with Ryzen. Make sure you get 16 gigs of ram

at this point, given the price and capability and the fairly common securuty exploits of intel, AMD is a safe bet. Pick which Intel processor you would pick and then spent the same amount of money on AMD.

the ryzen has more threads and can be overclocked, so you can probably get better single thread performance too, although it will likely be more than you need for overwatch at stock clocks

i have a ryzen 1600 with a RX 470 gpu, the performance is consistently better than my monitor refresh rate on ultra while playing music with youtube and keeping hundreds of tabs open in my browser

Overwatch generally prefers Intel but you can’t pass that R5 2600, it’s superior to the 9400 in most other cases, and Overwatch is light enough that it won’t matter.

i don’t know about amd but intel does backdoor your computer.

Ok thank you for telling me!

Hehe, the i7-4790k is a good chip ain’t it? I still have that one in my system.

Any other 4790-er’s out there?
