Insulting match in world cup

I just watched Mexico vs USA match and I found it quite insulting. USA trolling, not taking Mexico seriously. They trolled putting hydron on tank and super on dps. This is so insulting. USA as so much support, most OWL teams are hosted there. I’ve seen owl players get their “nationality” so fast, they don’t even speak english.

Nobody has discussed racism going on in overwatch. I am mexican, I often get insulted when playing competitive after they realize I am mexican. “get off my servers” and other sort of stronger… statements are said. I could handle it by thinking there are good people and bad people everywhere, but now this can’t just be ignored.

Honestly, all USA had to do is show respect.

Blizzard, you can keep your OWL, world cup, overwatch and games. I am not supporting you anymore. Not watching games or playing anymore.

Their lost at Numbani is irrelevant. Why are you dismissing me? You are doing the same as them. I think this is a real issue worth of discussion, please take it seriously.

No one cares. It’s only a game.

So you think team USA didn’t respect Mexico because they’re Mexicans? I hate to break it to you, a team of professional Overwatch players did not respect a what, semi-contenders team(?), as a real challenge.

Has nothing to do with race.

Lets be honest the team has super in it we all knew there would be shenanigans and a super genji resurface.

Any time I see someone use the phrase “touch grass” I know they never touch it themselves.

The same thing happened in OWL, it’s not a race thing.

Well they’ve already said they’re mexican so maybe try again

Racism in game is an issue for a lot of players. Honestly this game would benefit from more real people employed in the game mod department. But Blizzard keeps treating these people like dirt and firing them, so we’re left with incompetent automated systems that don’t address the issue.

However, I do not feel that what happened in the Mexico vs USA match was racially motivated.

USA were showboating in a game they were winning. I don’t think it would have mattered where the opposing team came from.

For something that’s supposed to be the “World Cup” of Overwatch, this is behavior that is entirely inappropriate. No matter the circumstances, you should still act with decorum and class. Imagine if Team Argentina at the World Cup put Lionel Messi as the goalie in a match, or if the KC Chiefs put Mahomes as a tackle instead of QB (using well known players here as examples).

This is not becoming behavior of grown adults, and is entirely inappropriate, and anyone who supports Team USA should be ashamed. Hard to imagine them doing this towards team Canada, that’s for sure.

I agree, there needs to be stricter codes of conduct for players who are contenders/OWL players.

If you earn a living from Blizz for playing this game: You need to be held accountable for your behaviour whilst on the clock.

Unfortunately, lets face it, this isn’t one of Blizzards strong suits.

Not sure why people like to say this. That’s not entirely true. It’s really dependent on the individual, situation and mindset regardless of the hopelessness of winning.

Not, I don’t think it was because they were mexicans, they just did. Yes, racism is a different matter, but both issues come from the same place: harmful interaction being allowed in general within overwatch. For this case, unfortunately they are in a world cup, teams represent a country, they should show respect to others and be accountable for their behavior.

Wow they are so original :woman_standing:

When in history USA showed respect to any other country?

Yall are wild for accusing team USA of being racist because they trolled non pros in the knock off OWL. ah yes you would have preferred the pro overwatch players to just go in and stomp Team Mexico and keep every game boring af.

I can see why you’d consider it disrespectful. I can’t see how it is racist though. Especially when usa is mixture of all races. Isnt one of their team like brazilian or something?

Some light trash talk is good for ow as an esport tbh. It’s WAY more interesting to watch when players can actually beef with each other like any other sport or esport. Is it disrespectful? Yes. Should it be stopped? No.

Have no interest in watching world cup.

Did the US team win even with the trollpicks? If so, Mexico deserved it because they must be pretty damn bad to still lose.

There’s nothing wrong with a team feeling confident enough against another team to play off-roles. They didn’t say anything racist or offensive, they literally just switched their roles around.
