Instead of nuking Mercy's heal rate

Why not make it more demanding to maintain connection and/or make Resurrect a resource-dependent ability, either based on amplified damage dealt or healing done?

Blizz said implementing a resource based Resurrect would be too complicated. Sorry to break it to ya.

60 hps to 50 hps isn’t nuking it.

Why? I don’t believe that answer. Do you have a source?

Source?

EeveeA suggested the idea and it got responded off forums by Geoff Goodman. He says something along the lines of, ”We’ve purposefully been trying to avoid doing something like that”. I’ll try to find the exact quote.

Guys we should obviously just revert the rework, no one had any issues with pre-rework mercy at all. I can’t even think of WHY they changed her in the first place./s

I know they said that, but…lmao they have one for Torbjorn. So I have a lot of doubts that what they say regarding that is true.

Clearly, they don’t want to do it then.

”Hide n Res” and ”It was pretty disheartening”. The reasons for her rework were a joke.

It’s funny because that means Torbjorn is complicated xD

Lots of people had issues with it. Seagull, a popular steamer and pro player, is well-cited for complaining about pre-rework Mercy. Lots of pros were. Mercy’s rework was the start of the idea that if the pros complain, heroes get changed. Don’t act like nobody wanted her changed.

Mercy was changed because the strategy behind Mass Rez was unintuitive. “Tempo rezzing” felt wasteful. You wanted to wait for more allies to die to get the most value out of your ult. Letting allies die for glory or a tactical advantage didn’t fit Mercy’s character, so they changed her.

“Don’t want too”, and “Technically can’t” are very different.

I think I should start putting /s at the end of my sarcasm posts.

They said it. Not me.

This is completely false. Tempo ressing is always going to be better than hiding and letting your team die. Hide n res was only used on a wide scale because of a broken sr system that incentivised hiding. Also, they didn’t rework her because it went against her character lol. They reverted her because of ”Hide n Res” and the fact that it was disheartening. You might want to watch the developer video again.

I never mentioned Hide n’ Rez. I was referring to how if someone died on your team and other people were close to death, Mercy players would let their teammates die so the Rez would bring them back, too. That didn’t suit the benevolent doctor.

Tempo rezzing was incredibly valuable and tactically sound, but it didn’t feel good. It felt like you wasted your ult, and below Masters you’d get flamed out by your teammates for blowing an ult on 1-2 people that could have brought back 3-5 later.

and a dumb idea on top of it.

it was earned as an ultimate.

anything done with it as a normal skill is pointless and not gonna work properly.

just back to original hp/s

becasue they saw people using her to abuse the SR system they made and the godmdoe buff they gave her and instead of fixing the system and changing god mdoe to a damage reduction liek a smart person they wanetd to see how much they could waste in tiem resources and effort.

yup. hide and seek was a minority.

and nobody had an issue with mass rez until near end of mercy 1.0’s days.

and this is reasoning to why god mode on mass res was a mistake. it is the ONLY thign that enabled that to happen in 1st place.
If she would of remained able to be killed hide and seek wouldnt of happened.,

Yeah let me edit a /s onto it

Players who do that at just bad then. Why let your teammate die when you can tempo res then get ult charge from the ally that’s low. Safe to say, less than 10% of Mercy players did this.

If it was valuable and tactically sound how does it feel wasted and bad? Makes no sense.

if it makes you feel better…i knew it was /s by reading the psot

it was because OW SR system was broken. her mass rez was perfectly fine for ages.she went nearly a year until issues popped up. buty eah Mercy had to take the bullet…and devs made her the msot hated hero in the game for months after…

There’s a huge difference between something feeling good and something being tactically sound.

Rezzing one person simply did not compare to the feeling of rezzing five people. Why would you bring back one teammate when every indicator, from the one on your screen to the end-of-round card to SR gains all tell you that more is better?
