Inspired by TF2: Include a 12 v 12 game mode next to Quick Play as an alternative

It would be awesome. :sunglasses:

I doubt wood servers that Blizz has could handle that mode in large scale.

Yeah ActiBlizzion is just a small indie dev company ur right.

Would be interesting to try, but I don’t think the game is designed to really support 12v12. TF2 is a pretty simple shooter but Overwatch contains a lot of abilities that I think would break the game pretty hard.

I honestly love the idea of a full cast mode, where you have every hero on both sides on a giant battlefield.

But 12 v 12 also sounds like fun.

That’s the point. All the diverse abilities would be what makes it interesting. 12v12 isn’t supposed to be balanced, it’s supposed to be chaotic and fun. That said, I wouldn’t want them to make a competitve 12 v 12.

It would just be a gamemode alongside quick play that you can play when you’re feeling bored of the same old 6v6 over and over and over.

It would add a pretty big element of randomness to the game. Not too mention a pretty unbalanced meta potentially. 12v12 would end up favouring those with splash damage and spam type attacks/abilities far more. Junkrat spam anyone? Ults with AoE would be even more powerful.

I’m not really against the idea per se. Except that randomness might be a thing that if indulged too much by the community, leaves a taste in their mouths wanting more. Randomness is in somewhat antithetical to competitive.

nonono. Not for competitive.

An extra mode exclusively included as an alternative to Quick play.

Imagine defending on Hanamura and seeing 12 players rushing through the first choke.

Also, I feel like maps and the hero roster are too small for a 12v12

I know. I just mean it could drive people into wanting more randomness in the game overall. It could cannibalize the potential comp audience is what I’m saying. Blizzard like many others wants e-sports above all else.

If Total Mayhem exists, 12v12 can exist aswell.

maps are probably too small for a true highlander mode but that’d be fun as well.

Pretty sure they just dump money into AWS servers all the time.

Will my All heroes vs all heroes fantasy never becomes a thing.

ive stated this as such. this would fix alot of the problems within the OW community. but it wont ever happen. blizzard runs too many instances on their own servers to allow for some fun like this.

Compared to overwatch?

Outside of the server issue, how would you even make this work map wise?

all of the maps/objectives are made with 6v6 in mind, so 2cp/koth will turn into a stall-fest and people will be getting ults way too often, while tanking will become a nightmare

the skill ceiling in tf2 is many times higher than Overwatch’s.

That doesn’t really change the fact that the game is conceptually simpler. Overwatch has a much more diverse character pool with abilities that have no analogs even close to anything to TF2 that you must balance around. The skill ceiling of a game has little to do with its complexity.
