Is there some sort of new cheat out recently? I swear I’ve seen a spike of these insane players doing absurd stuff like seeing through walls, knowing exactly when people are where, 50+ to 1 or 2 deaths and this is in Silver. They can’t all be smurfs playing at GM level. What the F is going on with this game?

Well, there are many reasons for that. The first being that the anticheat is cosmetic in this game. There is only a PR stunt called “ban-waves” that allegedly bans a teeny tiny minuscule amount of cheaters, and then the rest of the cheaters can continue to cheat to their heart’s content for another year.
Another reason is that a lot of normal, decent, legitimate players are leaving this game for good after they had enough of this rigged trash matchmaking and cheater-fest of a game. So, what happens is that the proportional ratio of legitimate players to cheaters is thinning out, so you start seeing many more cheaters than before even if their population hasn’t changed that much.
Oh, and there are plenty of cheats, free ones even, that do not inject into the game and are undetectable so far. For example, there are pixel and color bots, but there are certain others that are very popular and free, and quite sophisticated. One starts with R. Cheaters in cheat forums often share free scripts for said cheat, often for automated abilities. For example, Sojourn’s autorail aimbot is very hot on the menu right now.
Lastly, cheating, in general, is more or less fully accepted in-game and on forums. Cheaters are good boys; they do not complain about the game, they are always having fun. No updates or patches ever hurt them in any way as they are ‘just gud.’ Everyone defends cheaters in-game and on forums like their life depends on it. Cheaters spam a ton of alts and many even spend money on said alts because they know they will not be banned, so even devs/CEOs cannot really hate such good customers.

It’s just the matchmaker. I get games with 40+ elims and 0-2 deaths a couple times a day at the rank I belong. More often if I’m coming off a loss streak. To be clear I’m not carrying, I’m just playing a game the matchmaker has designed for me to win.

Nothing you have described there is anything to do with the match maker.
The MM doesn’t care who you are.
Yes it does. If it thinks your MMR (determined by your stats) says your rank is too low, it gives you games with stronger teammates and weaker opponents to nudge you in that direction.
MMR is determined only by wins and losses. Stats are irrelevant.
Your MMR and your Rank now mirror one another. So if your MMR is 0 you will be around gold 2.
It only gives your players/groups around the same MMR.
Whoever told you this information was either clueless, or just straight lying to you. What I’ve said here has been explained by the devs in updates and interviews.
