TLDR: Please add an option to hide the “Match Rank” that shows up at the start of a match.
Since overwatch 2 released, playing Comp has been a delight for me and my friends. We found the competitive matchmaking much better than quick play, and very rarely would you find someone being toxic, complaining about another player, blaming each other, ect. This did slowly increase with each season, but it was never too bad, maybe one match in every 10 we played would have one person complaining.
Since season 4 released, I have found extremely toxic players in almost every match, and while it could be because the season is new and lots of people are back for the new season, I can’t help but think it has something to do with this focus on rank and SR and MMR.
Seeing the Match Rank at the start of a match has two effects on me, it either makes me feel like the rest of the team must be bad and I have to carry, or that the enemy is going to be much better than me and makes me nervous. I would love an option to opt out of seeing it, and just hide the match ranking. I get the feeling that at least some of the toxicity in season 4 might be related to other people having similar unconscious reactions to seeing the match ranking.
It seems like a small thing, but it would make a great change for my personal mental health.
Overwatch is probably the only competitive game where everyone’s ranks are hidden, and now they added a match rank and you want that hidden too 
Imagine they hid ranks in dota/league/sc2/valorant/apex people would be so confused.

I wish I could see the match rank when I bring the scoreboard up. I miss it almost every round and have no idea what the match rank is.
especially with the game skipping the team lists screen on regular basis
OW needs MORE transparency, if anything.
The stupid part is that the Overwatch Dev team will send out a patch for this. That way they can claim “We’re actively taking feedback and implementing changes to improve the Ranked experience” and all they did was do this.
I don’t think it would be to bad of an Idea personally. I mean in all honesty knowing the rank of the teams to me wouldn’t make me play any worse or better. So me not seeing them wouldn’t effect me any.

In all reality what is the reason to have a team rank shown if you don’t know the individual ranks? Personally, I wasn’t too on board with ranks being hidden at the beginning but in all honesty, I don’t think it was too bad. In my opinion, it hasn’t changed anything other than lowering the toxicity
yes, this is so annoying. im only shown the team screen in about 1 out of 10 games
Cant blame the toxic people games matchmaking has gone so bad it doesen t exist anymore ranks doesnt mean anything because of the matchmaking and ranking system are acting weird. And when you try your best try hard ad you can but lose and get rolled because of 1 bad player he has right to be angry and toxic just like the bad player ruining 9 peoples game with offering too one sided match.
Yes this game showed me the toxic people are the victim and not the abusers thx blizzard.

i’m 100% with you that overwatch needs more transparency, but op is not arguing for the feature being completely removed i.e. less transparency. they just personally don’t want to see it. this has no effect on other players or the overall level of information in the game. more options is almost always a good thing. if op wanted blizz to remove the feature for ALL players, i’d be with you, but ngl it seems like you’ve misunderstood the post.

This is why this game can never be taken seriously as a competitive game. You people want to play competitively without stakes involved. People are going to be toxic in every pvp competitive based game you will play. It’s seriously no wonder no one is playing this game.
Plenty people play this game, for fun, and enjoyment. The difference between comp and quickplay is closer SR matchmaking, and that you get to have both attack and defense. Us people want to continue playing the game we have been playing since beta, and have a good time doing it.
Toxicity has literally nothing to do with being taken seriously as a competitive game. You should be embarrassed about yourself exposing your own toxicity and inability to be competitive in a healthy way.
You can be competitive and there can be competitive stakes (your ranking) without screaming like a 12 year old who just got call of duty on xbox live.
I’ve been playing since beta. If you want to have fun go play QP because Competitive isn’t the place for “fun silly goofy” time.
I don’t even play the competitive mode but trying to hide ranks, profiles and all this other stuff just cause you don’t want to deal with it is exactly the reason why no one takes the mode seriously. You all would rather sit here and have them inflate your rank with a terrible system(OW2s ranking system) than actually have a good competitive game mode.
So you don’t even play ranked but have decided you know what does and doesn’t make it a legitimate mode?
