Increase the PLAYER BASE

This is where Overwatch needs to realize all of the “Skilled players” lean towards Valorant, CSGO, R6 and COD.

With this game being more team reliant for the game to function like tanks die without healers…etc. Your true player base are the casual players.

And much like Fortnite you will be reward for having a majority of your player base at the higher ranks.

Shorter queue times at the highest ranks is the best advertisement this game can have.

What it does:
-More streamers streaming your game(they can show off their higher rank claiming they are “skilled”)

-You have constant gameplay streaming instead of playing other games while setting in queue (which make people think the game is very popular).

-Average players can reach higher ranks than other games like Marvel Rivals (which is one of the reasons they are pulling so many players from overwatch, the other major reason being world/ability high quality graphics which is what Valorant did to CSGO).

Now how do you do this, well they are already stating to figure it out:

-Bots at low levels

-Heroes in each class that have high, med, and low actions per minute requirements (allowing less skilled players to climb and still contribute to the team, while “skilled” players will naturally want to use the high apm heroes because it’s more engaging for them (even the skilled players will want the low apm heroes for their less skilled friends to be able to play with them at higher ranks (brining in more players…because most people are not “skilled”)

-Look at the classes and have similar to the same total output potential (for example every dps hero will do the same to similar dps, every support will offer the same to similar heals per second, and tanks will offer the same to similar shielding/armor.)
Then just apply the total numbers at different rates and with different styles.

Instantly balancing becomes easier and allows more skin sales because all of your heroes become viable.

Unless ow3 comes out with something diffrent all together id say ow2 has hit its peak and will slowly fall off month to month. What they did in ow 2 was a slap in the face to the community and most die hards arent comen back.

90% of their content creators are on rivals with great deals and arent lookin back. The rest have moved on else where ow isnt ow anymore the platform of Woke soft everyones toxic has forced many players out either thru bans or loosing friends to bans mostly for things that arent even bad.

The devs have done this to the game no one else.

Define “skilled”.
Teamplay is a skill too.

I personally find anything a OW Pro does much more impressive then the best CS players.
Overwatch is definitely not just a casual game.

Back to Marvel Rivals, freaking casuals. Better kill that stupid game instead.

nothing should. that’s the original game mode. just don’t touch it. i still play it.

5v5 Open is nothing like the original OW1 open game mode since all role passives are enabled, so 3+ tanks with 2 supports is the team comp standard, aka GOATS 2.0.

6v6 min 1 has no tank passives enabled and is much closer to OW1 open queue, but without the threat of GOATS.

my guy, i played both. what i care about is, i don’t like to be limited in what role i play for a given game.
i will gladly take 10 losses just so i can be allowed to pick anything i want those 10 times.
that’s my idea of a good time, freedom in qp.
for a few years this gamemode was called quick play classic and it was in the arcade category. so what it turns out i’m saying is, i like playing qp like it’s arcade. i don’t mind at all.

Same here, though in my case, lifting my team to a win is actually a priority. I’m a Widow main, but I’ll still go tank if no one else will do it, provided at least 1 healer is present. If all other team mates only go DPS, then I’m assuming the team is just a practice / throw group, and I will follow their lead, but I will not leave just because the team doesn’t have motivated players.

Hard disagree with this point. I hate watching my favorite characters in games fall into obscurity because a new character came out with their kit, but better in every way.

Not only that, but there comes a point where, as a new player, you have to learn 2000 different characters and their kits just to play the game.

Again, absolutely not. This just forces certain characters to be bottom tier characters forever, while others remain permanently busted. This will just lead to extremely repetitive and stale gameplay.

I would just recommend working on performance over graphics, since OW2 isn’t really known for it’s hyper-realistic, hyper-detailed graphics anyways. Performance is always the gatekeeper for most players, since upgrading your PC to be able to handle insane graphics is too costly.

I mean then explain why 5v5 is more popular with one tank? I mean I guess in 6v6 I slightly prefer having a buddy tank but honestly not really important. It’s only important because team comp can win you or lose you the game.

Yeah good luck with that. The game at launch was absolutely overrun with players… right until they got a dose of what this team was to deliver - ie: a stream continually broken promises and diminishing quality updates.

I think I am leaning towards my 6v6 dps only queue more than fixing the current game.
To be honest I don’t like holding or shooting shields/large hp targets. It’s boring and takes forever. I want what I shoot to die quickly like COD.

When they announced this new game mode 5v5 I was hopeful then they just release super tanks with super hp pools. How is that like COD? Like WTF. 6v6 dps only is actually like COD. Why didn’t they do that if COD is what they were going for?

You can keep the current game mode but add a dps only queue. The other major problem is they need to release like 5 heroes asap because all the heroes feel old. Even League of Legends has release 3 heroes since I played in the last 6 months.

Why do you think there were going for “making the game like COD”?
Overwatch has always been Overwatch, and 5v5 is not different.

If you want COD, then go play it, but again, no need to ruin Overwatch because you want to play a different game.

Well that is what they said with all the streamers and hype when they dropped OW2.

I liked OW1 better keep that with 6v6 2x2x2 and you have a cool team hero shooter.
Add a separate 6v6 dps only queue for the extra dps players now you probably have balance queue times for the 2x2x2 mode.

I’ll keep saying it as long as long as it takes: RQ is not the answer. It’s not a RQ problem. It’s an I.Q. problem.

Let’s take an honest look at this game… It’s pay to win.

-Better pc higher fps/better aim
-Buy the white skins/blend in with background of engine

If you have played OW for as many years as me you know all this. Like IQ is part of the problem for climbing but the bigger issue is queue times. You want to reward players for playing the game. Right now your reward for climbing ranks is a 20 minute queue during the week. How is that a reward or fun? In GM+ Marvel Rivals my queue time during the week is 3-30 seconds.

Here is my fix:
-Bots at low levels
-Majority of player base at diamond where decay stops
-More players above diamond then below diamond.
-Also, Increase ULT charge to make matches end faster (try to match Marvel Rivals for time 8-12 minute matches in Bronze-GM) Faster games = more players in queue.

I would rather fight silver players than be stuck in 20 minute queues. I just want to play the game.
