In a word where Storm Arrows was a rejected idea

Here’s what I’d have given Hanzo instead:

Rubber Arrow

  • Single arrow that can bounce 3 times, allowing for corner shots
  • Gains power with each bounce
  • 2x crit
  • No bounce = 120hp
  • 1 bounce = 180hp
  • 2 bounces = 240hp
  • 3 bounces = 300hp
  • Cooldown = 6 seconds
  • Achievement = Get 2 triple bounce final blows in a QP or Comp match

It’s basically Scatter Arrow, without the cheesy spam shot route, and fits “Simple Geometry” really well. It’s not something you could just spam for kills, and it fits Hanzo well as an assassin. I can imagine him using Sonic Arrow, finding a target, then firing a Rubber Arrow to get them despite them being out of LoS. There is reward for taking the trickier shots, whilst generally speaking, the primary fire is better for when you have LoS.

So a lucky shot can 1 shot a Roadhog?

I think a better solution would’ve been to buff the damage on Scatter Arrow, but make it so that you could only be hit by one or two projectiles at a time.

That way you can send a scatter into a hallway or around a corner and have a good chance to either kill a wounded enemy or shred a group of bad guys around the corner, while taking away its one-shot potential.

Fair point, could adjust it so it’s non-crit, but scales up at a faster rate than 60hp. Maybe go 120/180/250/350 instead (increasing by 60/70/100 respectively)? Doesn’t one-shot any tanks then, but can still burn through a lot of their health

This arrow is honestly just pure luck ,there’s no way in hell that someone can intentionally aim and land this thing as a bodyshot ,let alone a headshot ,it only worked with scatter because you fired multiple arrows at once making it easier to hit people.

It’s a shot that would be a lot stronger in the higher tiers, but I do think it has potential. For example using it to get around a shield may take 2 bounces in some cases, shooting it into a corridor where you know someone is would almost certainly hit them, it’s just a question of how many bounces it would take, and when used in conjunction with Sonic Arrow I think the good Hanzos would be able to reliably get at least single bounce hits, in the same way that good Moiras know the angles to throw orbs at to get the most potential output from them.
