Shields? What is that? Yeah no, even in a meta full of shields that should hard-counter snipers, they are the best and most picked DPS alongside Doomfist. Now think about this: in the next patch, shields are being gutted, so Hanzo/Widow will gain a huge power boost. These pick rates haven’t gotten high yet.
Yeah I get it that forum complainers will always whine about these heroes regardless of what meta it is, etc.
You need to remember that in the next patch the global armor buff goes 3 to 5 too you remember? It’s not like getting killed by the enemy team is end of the world cause thats the point of this game.
That only makes a difference on snipers for D.Va mostly. Two headshots will do 590 damage instead of 600 damage. One bodyshot will still do 295 damage, which is 2% less.
In other words, snipers are affected the least with the armor changes.
As a soldier main, the armor change will nerf me more than a widow or hanzo player. Soldier is actually one of the heroes that gets hurt by it the most. Because the 2nd least picked hero in plat and above needed to be reined in.
Dont forget these are top 500 there most likely hardly miss a shot also if they position around the sheilds what are there reeally going to do hanzo good at sheild break so sigma
I’m pointing out two heroes who should be hard countered by the meta are getting a pretty big buff with the armor changes and less shield, so they will likely be insane at high levels.
Ofc they are, almost all of the DPS are neutralized by shields and when the shields drop and you get a single opportunity to shoot a player, theoretically it’s more effective to be firing a potential kill shot.
That is if we’re assuming their pick rate is affected by double shield.
This argument is lame. If it wasn’t a double shield you’d say the same with any other meta simply because you don’t think Widow/Hanzo should ever viable.
Ironically, the best counter to a high heals output shield meta is a one shot. That way, when the shield goes down for a second or someone carelessly strays away from it, you don’t want to give that person a chance to survive and get back into the shields.
The more survivability, the higher the demand for one shots no matter how countered they are, simply because under these conditions they are the only form of damage left that can actually kill something.
And what beats a one shot in those settings? A one shot that goes through shields, of course! Hence why Doomfist is trumping everyone right now.
Well but when shields get gutted wont snpiers have an even easier job since thy wont have only a moment or two like now, but more or less clmpletly free reign.
Unless of course dva, hammond or winston become meta and just dive her. Even though she was very good in dive meta as well.
So basicly evry meta is good for snipers except goats cause they have to much hp and sustain to get one shoted.
Theoretically speaking, the less chances of survival the game spoon feeds its players, the less mandatory insta kills become.
For example, Call of Duty lacks the excessive barriers and heals that power through damage. While snipers in that game are MUCH stronger than Widow’s, every other gun can also kill you while giving you little chance of survival. ARs are much better than snipers there, and shotguns are also better in camper playstyles.
The only aspect of shields that is going down is its health. To snipers (well, Widow at least), this means very little benefit to them since they are actually among the worst shield breakers in the game (let’s not talk about Hanzo, okay). This is a much bigger buff to the rest of the DPS roster than snipers, and a nerf to Doomfist. Along with Moira’s healing nerf, sustained damage gets more of a chance to compete while barely changing any aspect of snipers power. This is a redistribution of power skewed to non OSK dps.
She was TERRIBLE in Dive. She only became good after Mercy’s rework, Moira’s introduction and some very strong buffs. Basically, after breaking the support class and making her a monster.
