In 7 years most players left cause of antirewarding system

I play ow since ow1 launch, i played with many different groups and in my own experience most people left because the game is very unrewarding.

No special skins for each rank, they even removed the animated sticker for t500, most unrewarding competitive game ever. You get nothing for comp except 30s made Jade recolor weapon.

In comp you are punished for being good, no personal performance anymore, you need like 60% winrate, you lose more then you win.

Iam the only one who keeps going, because iam addicted, but after some months or years friends always leaves for same reason - extremely unrewarding , why would i play?

Many of your friends left, but there are many more people playing now and as such, new friends to be made.

yeah but it makes me annoyed too, they have good point, the game is extremely unrewarding, its fun and the core gameplay is amazing but they cant make the games rewarding… would be so easy to do and the game would shine again…

I’d bet the main reason people left is being tired of playing the game. It’s a pvp game, is they are either tired of it or not having fun, who cares about some cosmetics.

Isn’t fun a goal to play a game?

So that’s a reward in itself.

PVP should be rewarding too, not just “play the game” if every rank reached had specific special rewards everyone would be so much more motivated

I miss lootboxes as a reward for just playing.
You got rewarded with cosmetics and skins just for playing the game.

Now you need to buy them all, all the good stuff anyway.
All the free stuff from the battlepass is all the worst, most low quality garbage.

For you, and I. Maybe.
We are not the target audience any more.

Just play it for what it is. A usually ok free game. The rest is irrelevant.

Ah yes. The gambling incentives.

This dumb argument again.
You didn’t need to pay for them. I never payed for a lootbox in my life and I had about 95% of everything in OW1, just from playing. I would have had it all but I took a long break at one point.
If you payed for lootboxes that’s on you, you chose to do that when you didn’t need to.

Oh yes… I forgot, you NEED to pay for something for it to be gambling… That loophole that has never existed. lol

If I gave you a scratch card for free… you using it would still be gambling.

I agree. One of the biggest issues is the only way to be rewarded is spending real money or focusing on self improvement. The game has little to no reward outside of that and it sucks for many.

You’re gambling every time you drive your car that you won’t die in a horrific accident.

yeah its terrible, the game could be so much better

Agreed. Not sure that is relevant here, but I agree.

Competitive game rewards self improvement.

In other news, water discovered to be wet.

You get nothing from anything.

The matchmaking, balancing and having nothing meaningful to earn are the main reasons this game fails.

As someone who played ow1 at launch, then quit, and rejoined at ow2 launch, most of my friends quit because there was a very long gap after launch with no new eyecatching content.

But in OW1 you were also rewarded with coins for skins and constantly obtaining new items. Heck even the vote for cards was a minimal reward removed entirely.

And now you get BP XP. Ends up with the same pointless stuff.

Except not, because any real value from that battlepass takes money and time. Not just time anymore. The game lacks all the reward ow1 had except self improvement.
