Improving on Zen

Hey there. I have recently started playing a lot more of Zenyatta and I was wondering if anyone can give me some (advanced) tips on how to improve.

In terms of stats, it seems my accuracy is not high at all, but I am not sure if that is also partly due to spamming alt fire through chokes/corners between teamfight. For any Zen mains out there, what is your accuracy %?

Another issue for me is Genji and Doomfist. Tracer is a fairly even matchup, and I’d say I can win the duel about 50-60% of the time (unless i get some help from my team, in which case RIP Tracer). Genji and Doomfist on the other hand delete me almost instantly. Any tips on these two matchups would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Starting playing Zen on my alt account. My accuracy is a joke, but I feel Zen needs to lead a little more than you think he does.

For Genji, get discord on his right away, start to charge right click, melee as he defects, he will swift strike through you, turn and try to duel him. If he blades ult.

I usually lose to Genji but I never find a window to discord him.

Genji doomfist and sombra (with EMP) are almost impossible to win against. You can try to deal with them the same way that you deal with tracer with insta discord and right click in the head.

For Genji start discord +left click and after the first shot he will ripost. Now you can hold your right click because right after the ripost he’ll dash behind you, it’s up to you to discharge yourself in his face !

For doomfist it’s harder it depends on his engaging… If he engages you with right click either you are dead or alive… If you are alive discord + right click charged in his face when he uses uppercut (when he his at the edge of it) it’s his vulnerable moment because he is more static… If you are not dead after the full combo wait for his second right click for the full discharge in his face (easier to aim).

I’m not a Zen main but when I play Zen I usually yell for help when flankers dive me. I think it’s not a bad idea to ask your tank to peel for you when someone jumps on you.

I played zen quite a lot and i m at the same rank as you . (Congrats for reaching plat . I m trying to grind it this last few days of season lol fingers crossed.)
I m at 26% accuracy.
I struggle more against genjis than tracers too so not sure how to help haha but i m curious of tips out there too .
But i would say it has a lot to do eith positioning . Discord and hoping winston will jump back to chase the annoying genji .

One tip i can think of is wait and charge alt fire during his double jump as is trajectory is more predictable when he double jump .

I’ve played zen for 2 years. The number one thing I’ve learned is this.
If the Tracer, Genji, or Doomfist is any good, you’re dead.

So get on voice comms.
Voice comms are the game changer. Call out your discord’s. LEAVE the discord on the target for a bit. Give your dps time to locate, and eliminate the discorded target.

Lead your shots.
Keep harmony orb on the target MOST likely to die within ten seconds.
The full health Genji in the enemy backline needs the orb MORE than the half health dva standing safely behind you spamming “I need healing”.

Final point. I work in medicine. Concept of triage exists. Meaning the person who needs help most needs help first. In comp you will be pressured. People will stand in front of you spamming that they need healing. But again, do they need help MOST? If not, they don’t get helped FIRST. Takes time and discernment.

I wish you luck.

Maybe it’s just my SR but I’ve found that primary fire is better for Genji. For me I always have my charged shot charged for too long so I have to cancel it or die.

It’s more to bait out deflect than to kill him.

Lol, advice is appreciated from all ELOs. I started out in Bronze, so no shame <3

Actively search for a position where you can dish out damage but would force doomfist and gengu to overcommit in order to get to you(use cooldowns). Aim will improve over time. If you don’t see a target, charge right click and depending on the situation pre-fire arround a corner where you think an enemy will peek, or cancel using melee. And most importantly, call out discords. Your position in the back gives you a better perspective on the teamfight, if someone else is calling the shots, discord the targets, if not take leadership and pop the flip off. Target priority is important, if your team can actively call and take out targets you will win.
