Improved controller scheme for Overwatch 2

The biggest problem with Overwatch on console is the amount of buttons. Even if you use an Elite controller with 4 back buttons, you still have to take your fingers off the sticks to use certain buttons.

Here’s a much better control scheme for OW2 (for an Elite controller) which drastically reduces how often you need to take your fingers off the sticks:

A - Jump
B - Crouch (tap) / Toggle Crouch (hold)
X - Reload (tap) / Interact (double tap)
Y - Switch Weapon
LB - Ability 1
RB - Ability 2
LB+RB - Ultimate
LS - Ping
RS - Melee
DPAD - Menus (Communication, Emotes, Voice Lines, Sprays)

You realize you can just rebind your buttons to whatever you want, right?

Problem with console for me is how clunky aiming feels in OW. Other games like Apex feel great with a controller. But no matter how much I tweak aim settings in OW I can never find one that feels right.

I’ll disagree with ultimate as some heroes like dva (boost + misiles") would cause ult usage with no way to prevent this

Other than that, yeah, pretty good, heck 2 things

  1. This is easily solvable by introducing double tap, button combo and “hold” options
  2. Can we remove “switch weapon”? Like who uses it. Just put torb’s hammer on his default melee, and for mercy maybe make “reload” or “interact” switch to an attack mode like the one on the last blizzcon, and bam, you delete an unnecessary button

Have you adjusted the aim assist setting yet? I find weakening the aim assist (not too much though) helps. I have mine at 50 for all characters.

That’s only half true. You can’t for example have Reload/Interact on the same button, or use a chord for Ultimate. Hence why buttons end up flowing onto the DPAD and being difficult to use while playing.

It’s very common in modern FPS to have Reload/Interact on the same button and specific abilities that are used with an LB+RB chord, Overwatch is behind the times.
