sym is way worse overall.
she has terrible ways to deal damage, that are the worst out of all dps in terms of consistency, shes needy, utility is bad to the point the means to get gain of it outclass the effort, shes squishy, has no mobility, etc…
people in general ask for the symmetra to switch off instead of genji. only minorities (higher ranks) find genji bad, in ladder.

yeah when people actually utilize his counters, and the fact that theres a 60% chance the enemy team walks out of spawn with at least 3 genji counters without even knowing theres a genji on the enemy team, it gets irritating

Because most top streamers play what is meta and what is the best possible option for a given scenario.
Unless they are Fuey or Stevoo, they don’t waste their time mastering every detail on a hero that inherently sucks.
So no wonder they “don’t do good with them”. Why would you want to learn a bad hero when you have other better ones that will make your job easier?

I’m a low plat DPS main on my main account. This account was made before locked-222 was introduced so I don’t use it anymore to play the actual game.

yet this game makes sure to load some heroes with abilities or niches to make sure they stay bad and do not allow counterplay even if you had the possibility to outplay them

We been knew. She’s been bottom of the barrel since her launch, her peak was after the beam fixes but then they over nerfed her and now she’s right back where she started but worse.

while genji has its counters like you said JuiceNoodlez (although i wish u’d tell me what do you specifically consider as counters, im open minded when it comes to that unlike other ppl) sym does have her good ammount of counters… including her own team.
say, if the team doesnt take into account syms existence she’ll die to hitscan. so she needs a shield to prevent all hitscans from killing her off. she also wont be able to deal any real damage since orbs are just, bad.
this also means tp wont be used…
then theres pharah. while on high levels shes not the main issue, she is in lower ranks.
and then reaper, then mei, then hog, then doom, then…
you know what i mean.
echo doesnt help either. shes so much more fluid than pharah, im burst at any moment. funnily enough thats when im at level 3, since syms range is short, im super vulnerable to any burst… which echo can apply from the sky, completely away from me.
lastly, her coordination for tping
you need to make sure everyone is playing along with it, yet it only takes an aoe attack to completely destroy the whole strategy.

zarya can block 4 blade slashes with bubbles, and can out damage him
McCree can flash out of deflect and 2 shot
rein solo shatters nanoblades
zarya solo gravs nanoblades
widow one shots genji
hanzo one shots genji
lucio can duel genji fairly, but can disrupt blade completely by right clicking because it skews your dash resets and gets you out of slash range
moira has no aim, self heals, and has a get out of jail ability
mei freezes you and 1 taps

i think the other thing that sucks is that you are so bad at duels. everything needs a charge up, while i agree orb needs to be charged first and all, its so damn slowwwww!

if anyone dives you, you are just dead. tp is fully meant for the team now, not even yourself since a wasted tp means a waaaay longer wait now.
atleast before i could tp away if a teamfight went south, now i feel i rely on my team so much and it feels terrible. a lot of times it just wont be available, destroying it too fast is also a problem sometimes because it wasnt used to its full potential.
tp was meant to work on more situations yet it just feels… so limited now?
i always need to think about my team, i dont feel i can outright play a trick on this guy and kill him, like tping behind him.

you get the point
basically what I’m trying to say is, things like being oneshot, or having damage blocked. That applies to everyone, just because their kit is viable, and has a shot at doing things against your kit doesn’t make them a counter
Widow can oneshot everyone with 200 health or less, does that mean that she counters everyone, not exactly, it just means that she has a strength against them
Zenyatta can make anyone take 30% more damage, does that mean he counters anyone? No its just means that his kit does something.
This is a multiplayer game, every kit should have some way to fight another’s kit. Just because they can kill you doesn’t mean that they counter you. Reinhardt isn’t listed as a McCree counter because he blocks his shots.
A counter is something that a hero is specifically good against you. Reinhardt blocks everyones shots, that doesn’t make him a counter to everyone. Sombra can hack anyone, that doesn’t mean that shes a counter to everyone.
A good example of what a counter really is would be Reaper against Pharah. Pharah can stay out of reapers range and shoot him down, but this isn’t something that applies to everyone, other hero’s don’t have a “range”, its something that only applies to Pharah, and reaper (and a few other people).
Another example, sombra against wrecking ball. Wrecking ball, once hacked is basically useless, thats something that only applies to WB (and some other heros), that would make sombra a counter.
My last example, Genji can deflect 76’s shots, but he can also deflect like 15 other hero’s shots, that doesn’t make him a counter. It just makes deflect part of his kit.
To add to this, Beams are not a counter to genji, they are only a counter to deflect. The same way that Sombra’s hack is only a counter to abilites, not a counter to primary fires. To some hero’s their abilities matter more or less, thats why a sombra hacking a WB is a counter, because WB is his abilites. While hacking 76 is not considered a counter, be 76 is his gun.
i think the game is just bad rn for anyone who isnt a dps hitscan like widow ashe or mccree

unless you have utility that people are willing to work with you just lose the game.

also moira wasnt designed to kinda counter genji, she counters him in “normal” enviroments aka qp arcade bronze silver gold platty diamond
moira was designed as that hero u play when u feel you suck at everyone else in the game as a whole and trust me, it works

Sym is actually one of the hardest heroes because you have to fight two teams at once.

hes more accepted in general despite suffering through the same movement with sym once
you know when comp ppl just reported any sym or torb player at the start of the game and the bans applied even if they were false
to this day i still have someone having a breakdown on spawn because they saw sym at the start.
i see ppl reacting better to attack torb even and… it sucks
