Have came up with this idea that I personally believe would make this ability a more fair and interesting change for Baptiste:
Baptiste
Immortality (Cant think of a new name for it, you decide lol) Field no longer prevents ally deaths upon usage. Now provides a fixed 50% damage reduction to Bap and his allies within the field.
Area of Effect radius increased from 6.5 meters to 8 meters.
Health increased from 150 to 250.
Cooldown decreased from 25s to 15s.
Duration increased from 5s to 6s.

Like I said in some other post, that is not always an option. Baptiste can toss down Lamp right as a D.Va Bomb or Sigma Flux is about to shred his team, and if he hides it around a corner, you canât shoot it.
Really, what they need to do is balance IF around having a lower AOE range so you canât affect so much of your team with it so easily and hide it around corners so darn easily. They can increase the health, reduce the cooldown, etc. if needed once they fix the main reason that IF is so strong; itâs AOE range.
This was not made because âi cant deal with it.â I made this suggestion to make it more fluidic and not as problematic as before. The issue with bap IF is how it negates everything, even ults without putting much thought into it. Especially how good baps dont preemptively just throw out their IF like its nothing and usually time their IF tosses when an ult is about to kill someone for instance. So pretty much âjust shoot at itâ defeats the entire purpose of countering IF.
What makes Bastion appear to be OP is fragmented, lone wolf styles of play that donât work against Bastion; Especially when he has a shield to work with.
Field is fine, it legitimately baffles me how many players seem to lack the basic skills of shooting it or tracking cooldowns ahead of time and planning appropriately. Youâre acting like you can deal with it and its just Bap being âbrokenâ, but your complaint makes it obvious you donât know how to outplay the possibility of IF being used. You canât just ask for something to be nerfed because you donât want to learn how to outplay an ability with plenty of workarounds.
How am i nerfing this ability? This is literally a rework to make it a damage reduction ability while improving its core components of the ability to still make it a relevant ability? I didnt make this change because âhurr durr i cant deal with it.â Iâve made this suggestion to give immortality field a rework so it would become a more fair and fluidic ability throughout. did you even read this?
The problem I see is why am I picking someone like Ana (a support with single target damage reduction) over this?
Bapâs window is as easy, if not more so, to get as Nano and combined with this literally just becomes âNano but for the whole teamâ. When Ana is being powercrept, thereâs a problem since she arguably started the huge amount of powercreep way back when she first launched
completely destroys the saving grace that his life saving ability is. with the sheer number of team wipe ultimates i really donât see why one character with a low hp lamp that sayâs ânoâ for like 5 seconds is a bad thing
I kind of like that because you donât necessarily need to wait on a big moment to use it and it can last longer in fights. You can use it more often and just use it in a normal team fight and slowly turn the tide of the battle through attrition as your team mates and healers can invest less resources to survive.
(oh, it would also put your team in an ultimate resource lead)
balance-wise, i actually like this idea. it puts immo in the same power/value range as other support abilities. (besides rez of course)
i donât really like the current use of immo. it feels like i just time the ability with my tank having low health. the way it currently denies kills, feels artificial to me
the only thing i donât like about this change is that it doesnât feel very unique. even if no one else in the game has this type of ability, it just seems uninspired. i do think this rework is better for the feel and balance of the game though.
Yeah personally the intention was to make this rework more fair and fluidic so that it can provide more strategies to bapâs team. Let alone it will provide more usage for the ability instead of downright just saving it for a long time just to save an ally from death. I wanted the new reworked ability to create new strategies, whe have allies and the Bap last longer instead of fully negating everything instantaneously.
