Every time you think it can’t get any worse with Blizzard
But no one said this?
That’s a strawman
I think this is the comment teabag is talking about Pastel.
To be fair, I did.
Then again…if a company says to do something…a small team kinda has to do it. It’s how companies work. The Overwatch team HAS to answer to its superiors.
So confidently incorrect.
Could’ve. No one actually believes that you know? Especially since Blizz can just change the name whenever they want. No threats needed
This is NOT how companies work.
And that people believe this is a problem.
There are abusers at Blizzard. Those people are individuals. Some have left, some are still there.
There are also people at Blizzard that are not abusers but are in management.
Some are unscrupulous, some are not.
Business are not hive minds, they are people, processes and assets.
People have agency. Which is why they staged a walk out.
Do you think Blizzard told them to stage a walkout? Or release a statement to the media that what the CEO said wasn’t good enough?
Why didn’t Blizzard fire everyone at that point?
I think people don’t understand how modern companies work and that’s the basis for these conspiracy theories.
If you actually think companiess care about what small teams say and don’t just do things whenever they want, you’re in for a surprise
…Yeah it is. I work at one lol. Companies only care about the profit.
They don’t care about individuals or small teams. They don’t care about us, its employees. Not anything but itself.
No offense but there is no ‘surprise’ in this.
I work for a company 3 times larger than Activision Blizzard and have dealt in crisis communications in the past for companies around ActiBlizz’s size.
There is a fundamental lack of understanding here for these things work.
I highly doubt that given what you’ve said companies are like
So I would ask again, do we have strong evidence, and what would management’s motive for the name change be?
Who is ‘they’?
The company is not 1 person. Who are you referring to?
Your direct manager?
The ones in charge, easily. The ones on the highest end of the pyramid that form companies only care about themselves.
I’ll never understand why people believe that companies care about anything but money. Everything else is just PR. This was always going to happen…
Human rights do not exist to companies. Most will gladly commit war crimes if it means making a profit. If it weren’t blatantly illegal of course.
There’s no concrete evidence either side, but it for sure looks fishy that the name chnage happened as they deleted evidence and harassed people who worked at Blizzard. Timing makes it look like a distraction , which Blizzard isn’t too uncommon with
Well this is obvious - they are all incentivized on profitability and share price.
So do you think Bobby Kotick drove the name change? You think this was his idea as the man in charge?
I would be wrong if I said I didn’t at least have my suspicions, yes. This wound up being a great smokescreen for these blatantly disgusting actions.
And I knew it would happen.
Well then I’m certain you’ve never stepped in a boardroom in your life.
You think the CEO of a holding company where Blizzard is a small part of it, drove the name change of a character?
Do you know what the job of a CEO is?
How is it a smokescreen? It didn’t prevent it from leaking anything in the slightest.
