Im tired of being ddos'd

I’m actually sick and tired of being ddos’d. This is the fourth time I have been ddos’d today. This is not the only day I have been ddos’d either. I also can tell the difference between my isp having issues and someone flooding my ip address with packets!! I am very close to never playing Overwatch again because people are constantly cheating in this game. So many people are cheating in this game that it feels like the only way to even be competitive is to cheat with them. Please pay attention to competitive because it is not fair to people who are playing the game fairly and grinding all day to lose 50 sr because bozo the clown decides he/she has had enough of getting beat and is just going to start hitting ip addresses or even better micro flick botting, or walling. FIX YOUR GAME BEFORE NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY IT ANYMORE.

  1. You cannot say if this issue is related to Overwatch or Blizzard
  2. You can’t protect yourself against DDOS attacks. (Not completely)

Pretty sure overwatch doesn’t reveal player IPs, even with packet sniffers. As most server side shooter games haven’t done this in over a decade or so. Methinks something else is going on.

Matches in OW are not P2P. Players within a match communicate to the same server, never directly with other players.
No one in your game is getting your IP address and DDOSing you. Even if they did have that information, they didn’t get it from OW.

I know how ip sniffing works and if you are running through someones network ie playing in the same game as them your ip address will show up. If you want to hit the enemy team specifically all you have to do is get your teammates to talk in VC and watch next to the ip addresses listed in your sniffer and see which ip’s has packets that fluctuate. It’s not rocket science to ddos.

You apparently don’t know how it works. I work on this stuff for a career. The server hides the IPs from the clients. If you are playing with people that are on the same LAN (like a college campus) then it may be possible to identify people playing the game and what their IP addresses are but that may not necessarily be people in your game.

Apparently you don’t either, but ok mane think what you want too.

By all means, explain the process of getting an IP of a player through overwatch…

You work on this for a career, figure it out. Shouldn’t be hard for someone of your stature.

I am not the one making the ridiculous claim. If there is a way to do this then that would be a severe bug that Blizzard should be aware of. You came here to make this claim, please explain how to recreate the bug or you are just wasting time and pissing into the wind.

I don’t mind pissing in the wind when someone is being sarcastic. That piss will eventually hit the sarcastic person dead in the face just like a fart down wind. Have a good Day/Afternoon/Night.

Literally nothing I said was sarcastic. I am seriously asking you to explain how that works so it can be fixed. If you can’t, then you are simply making crap up.

Oh im sorry all of my claims are RIDICULOUS. There is no way possible that a low life normie like me could be right when you are making a career out of something that normies know nothing about.

You come here for help, then if someone professionalized in this topic replies that it is not possible then you deny it?

Secondly if you know it’s possible then show how it’s done, it could be easier tracked like that for blizzard and a fix could be issued faster.

Now let’s keep it a bit civil alright.

So what happens if you get so called 'DDOS’ed" in your case?

Get NordVPN, the VPN service that covers you for 3 years for a pretty cheap fee.

From what I can tell, you’re likely sharing a connection, or your ISP is having trouble for the past day. Just relax and wait it out, call your ISP, or buy a VPN so nobody else can get your direct home IP from any website or service.

If you continue to get DDOS attacks, and your ISP has verified that you are not at fault, have them issue you a new IP address. If that doesn’t work, it’s probably whatever connection device you’re using malfunctioning. If you are renting from your ISP, request a newer device.

Rule of thumb; If you’re using DSL, it’s notoriously unstable. If you’re using DSL with MULTIPLE PEOPLE sharing it, you’re going to disconnect from everything frequently in irregular intervals.

If you’re using WIFI;

Don’t.

You don’t know how things work. I don’t even know where to begin on explaining.

I get that you think you’re cool downloading a tool and using it, but running someone else’s script doesn’t mean you know anything about network administration.

He probably tought of using wireshark in this process or something. Would have worked /s

Please don’t necro bump posts.

And please edit your language, otherwise it can be actioned upon.

It’s hard to say it’s DDOS, since that would actually leave your connection out for a longer time. It’s fairly normal for an attack to last for quite a bit.

Hold in mind due to the current COVID-19 that ISP’s are under a heavier load, they can indeed take measures but this does still affect connection.

Use to happen to me playing OW1 as well, now tonight playing OW2. Easy to imagine someone tricking the server into granting admin access to show the IP’s, or having inside knowledge of a bug that reveals them.
