He blocks your damage with a barrier, stuns you with a rock, then blocks your damage with his grasp, then repeat. It’s zero fun to play against. Why does Cassidy and Brig get their stun removed but he gets to keep his dumb rock? Why does he have two damage mitigation abilities - Rein doesn’t get both his shield and Orisa’s fortify. He is just such a dumb design.

Because they aren’t Tanks like Sigma. Tank is the role where a large majority of stuns reside.
Because he has no mobility and is a sitting duck against - for instance Rein - if you can get into melee range of him. Additionally his shield doesn’t have a lot of HP and his absorbing ability is countered by certain stuns and doesn’t block melee attacks or beams.
He honestly isn’t too hard to counter. If you are a Tank, go Rein or Orissa and you’ll run through him if you play aggressive. If you are on damage, either go flankers that can avoid him and attack his team, or Sym since her turrets and beam are hard for him to play against or go strong close range characters that can out brawl him.

In my opinion Sigma is the most balanced tank right now. A character which can take advantage of an aggressive playstyle, but needs to be careful as not to be surrounded and overwhelmed.
Fighting against a Sigma who doesn’t panic and can time his shield into absorb into accretion is a sign of experience and competence. Sigma feels rewarding to play but honestly not at the level of oppressive as Zarya, and not a meat-shield like Orisa. Sigma imo, is peak tank balance to where there is a science behind fighting another Sigma which doesn’t involve spamming abilities. Placing your shield behind your mirror opponent’s barrier, moving past your opponents shield, then doing comet shot while he withdraws his barrier is a very skillful play.

Because the moment you get past his shield, he´s an easy target. Don´t get me wrong, he is not weak, but he is easily divable

That’s only if I’m able to get near him though, whereas sigmas utility is at all ranges

Sigma is the worst designed tank in the game. Most bloated kit, he should have been reworked before Orisa.
I play tank, while I’d love to run off on my own, the rest of the team would just get wiped out.
He’s a pain to play against yet he sucks on offense and easy to flank.
Gl flanking a Sigma if your dps aren’t bots.
So you have multiple ways of dealing with him
Winston and Zarya can easily deal with sigma
Rein, Ball and Orisa have some balanced matchups against him
JQ sucks
Dva maybe can have a hardtime but i don´t really play her so idk
Hog is 50/50
Even doom can kinda go against sigma

Its all up to DPS to flank anyway (unless you play hamster or Doom). Or destroy his shield which can be done rather quickly but ain’t the best idea if the opponents are all 5 behind it.
Thank god for his Talon & Carbon Fiber(?) skins.
But Orisa does get Javelin Spin and Fortify

NO it really doesn’t. If Orisa had javelin, a shield and fortify she’d be broken too.
I think Sigma is fun to play as and against - he has good abilities but also gives plenty of room to overcome them
If Sigma is carrying his team, I tend to just swap to Symmetra on Damage and completely reverse his impact. Tanks have some great options too. Hmm, if I am on support against Sigma then I suppose I feel like I have less options to counter him and just focus on staying out of his range
I don’t agree but I would happily trade Sigma’s kit if they rebuilt him around levitating/flying! I was surprised to see him enter OW2 with the same kit (and Orisa completely reworked) and not get some hover like in those multiple tests.
Just feels like they could have went crazier with the gravity hero theme (especially now that we see Ramattra’s abilities)
Yeah they were testing the flight with him, if only they got more creative with Sigma
Fortify just basically gives you extra health, not mitigates all damage and gives you overhealth.
