I'm really starting to hate snipers

Fundamentally she is. She one shots at any range with the limitation being a ~0.5 sec slow while charging up to the 70% to one shot a squishy. Doomfist had to charge for around a full second and had to connect with a wall. It was EASIER, yes, but more situational (plus df is a rather large gentleman and isn’t exactly quiet).

There’s a video on youtube somewhere (Cannot find it, no matter how hard I try) where a masters player talks sarcastically about people complaining about one shots from DF. He says something along the lines of “Doomfist can one shot squishies. That’s overpowered. It would be really stupid if he could do that at any range, with no cooldown, without initial warning, and instantaneously.” While this comment is being made, the video is slowly zooming in on Widow’s primary

What the streamer was an idiot about and didn’t realize the complaints of the hero from lower tiers is that the skill floor requirement on doomfist 1shot was many tiers lower than that of Hanzo, Widow, and Sojourn.

1shot on wall punch and hog and flashbang kills on McCree or Mei freeze combos are infinitely easier to pull off for practically any skill level compared to Widow, Sojourn, and Hanzo.

Low tier and high tier problems are not the same. At low tier, consistency wins out above all else. Widow, Hanzo, and Sojourn 1shots are balanced around people sucking. When people don’t suck anymore 1shots become the most busted thing in the game.

Which is exactly why Sojourn is more of a problem at high tiers and not lower tiers. 1shots are still annoying as hell regardless of levle, but for different reasons. At high tiers, it completely invalidates other characters because 1shot it he best thing in the game. At low tiers, it becomes very difficult to play against when a smurf or cheater enters the lobbies because aim is no longer an issue and its hard to fight back.

The other problem for lower tiers is people getting kills that was more luck than actual skill. A widow in silver might go like 2minutes without a kill, then suddenly land like 2kills back to back winning a team fight. That’s the annoying part is they got immense value for a small sections after not contributing for so long. The feast/famine of it is very annoying.

Different worlds; different problems.

Because either is legit. You can play around it and force the sniper into suboptimal positions that are close and then get them or you can pick something that gets close to them.

Honestly this the amount of times my team goes low mobility heroes (torb bastion rein orissa) into widow ashe or hanzo is crazy and when you get the tank to swap winston they dive the tank @.@

Goats and double shield was an answer to everything, not snipers specifically. In truth goats was more of an answer to dive than it was to snipers.

Snipers and Pharah… DPS just ignoring them, I often end up stuck trying to deal with them as support instead but of course then they get healed just as fast as I damage them and my team is dead anyway because they aren’t getting enough healing… but at least they weren’t dying to the sniper anymore. >.<

Had another game where I was tank and instead of following me to cover and the objective, they just kept charging in through big open ground at Hanzo who just… mowed them all down every time.

Increase body shot damage. Increase shot speed. Easy.

No more unassisted instant headshots (damage boosted, nano’d or windowed is fine by me; below 200 health characters are okay to one shot, in my opinion) and value gets shifted away from almost all value being derived from instant kills to getting value from softening up targets and cleanings kills.

Also, this allows Widow/Hanzo to be more effective with the lower ranks (i.e. majority of the playerbase) without making them overbearing.

It really is that simple and it would improve the game greatly.

Brig was the catalyst yeah. Brig was introduced as an anti dive hero and when she was introduced they specifically showcased how she could whipshot Winston out of the air and shield bash dive heroes etc.

  2. as a tank with shield. Nobody wants to “stand behind me”

As a Winston main, I love sniper comps.

90% of the time, it doesn’t take long before enemy comp switches to Hog/DVa, Reaper, Cas, Brig etc…

But if you’re decent at Winston, it’s real easy to use safe pathing to access juicy snipers.

And you know you’re effective when: they not only swap, but the rest of their team is forced into multiple-counters.

But before they swap: I love snipers!

Ever since ow2 lanched I’ve barely had any fun playing. Widowmaker and Sojourn are ruining the game among other things

Just saying, OW has this too. JQ scream, Torb overload, Bastion existing.

The problem is these heroes themselves don’t really have a way to engage with one-shot heroes due to range disadvantage.

Personally, I’m fine with Widowmaker having oneshots but she should be a stationary stealth sniper. Like let her hang on the sides of buildings and upside ect., but she has to be fairly close or get huge damage drop off.

sniping on ow is much easier then most games. i never bought battlefield 5 but this sniper montage is so sick
