Overwatch keeps aggressively changing what I’ve actually bound Interact and Acknowledge to. It inconsistently changes what the two keys do, particularly when bound to the defaults of F and G, presumably because of some sloppily-made way of giving everyone an Interact key for one ability of one character and putting it on a key that’s already been bound for two years.
The only way I’ve found to avoid this is to not bind interact to anything and hope the game hasn’t changed that so I don’t have to unbind both keys and put my Acknowledge key back. I don’t care if I can’t take Teleporters.
Also, on a related note, Overwatch has some serious and different issues with keybindings every patch. When I first decided to bind keys for Thanks, Hello, etc, around 2016’s Halloween event, it took until the next Summer Games, I believe, for them to stop un-binding randomly. As well, I was forced to use programs like Razer Synapse and X-Mouse to dual-bind my Mouse4 and Mouse5 to keyboard keys because I would sometimes start a game where Overwatch un-bound my ability keys. This was only fixed some time around when Ana’s clip size was increased from 10 to 14. (Also keep in-mind that external macro programs, even for something as innocent as using abilities on more keys, is a bannable offense and I don’t want to get in trouble for what Blizzard may or may not auto-detect while I’m running the game. Jitter-clicking for the custom games X vs X setup had people vehemently warning others not to use macros for it because of this.)
Please just fix how setting your controls works in the game. I’m so sick and tired of scrolling down in menus to fix problems I had nothing to do with.
Oh, and give me slap-on-the-wrist penalties for openly not Teleporting because the program is incapable of letting me do so properly. That would be really fun and great.
(Also, I’m willing to take more footage or grab highlights from my OBS files if people want demonstrations. I also could not care less if you don’t enjoy how I personally want to control the game and will ignore anyone who bothers arguing that I don’t need or shouldn’t use a certain key.)

I am really screwed over on console. I have specific control setups for all my mains to make them comfy to use. The need for an interact button screws all of them over. I just said screw it in the end. If there is a sym then im just not using the teleporter.

Oh, I only even remembered console being a problem with this when someone reminded me yesterday. I think Blizzard forgot too lol.
While I was moreso trying to focus on the bug that un-binds/re-binds keys here, I will say that I think it’s super messed up that the introduction of Interact (used for one single thing now, and only two on PTR) screws over console players so badly. It really seems like Blizzard just didn’t care. There’s not even any way to use Acknowledge for Teleporter like you did on PTR, which I would be fine with. I would have to script it myself, which, again, would be an external macro, and would still have other problems.
Please just fix either of these issues Blizzard, honestly…
Works fine for me. Even on my Xbox I just put “interact” onto one of the d-pad buttons. I’ve never had it randomly unbind things. The worst thing that happens is I change a key in the “defaults” section and it doesn’t get applied on one of the heroes I have custom controls set up for.
I’m happy the Interact key and control setting happen to work for you.
Even after making sure my individual heroes didn’t have controls affecting what I changed, it’s still random if I get to use the correct settings or not, just as it was with the Mouse buttons for abilities and for my voice wheel hotkeys.
As well, many console players are already bothered by having an extra key to bind and the way you enjoy playing doesn’t change that. (And yes, I appreciate the D-Pad suggestion you and Zenkai gave, which some of my friends already use, but I’m saying things like that aren’t a good solution for everyone, which can’t really be argued.)
Try using the d-pad for interact, left or right would work.
I’m using one of my side mouse buttons for it now, but I still think it would be nice if we could just walk through it like old times.

On console it could be as simple as “hold reload.”

Obviously, I can see issues with that, but it really would be nice if we could just have it as an option.
I’m not going to argue that this would be consistent with EVERYTHING-- I mean, I still find Valkyrie’s one set of flight controls to be awful, but with things like ‘auto wall-climb’ being toggleable, I don’t see why having a setting to walk through Teles would be a problem.
I would appreciate a way to use other keys for this for sure.
I already had buttons on the D pad.

Right on the Dpad is toggle weapon.
Left is hero information. Which is an easy sacrifice, most people probably already use dpad left for something.
I personally removed spray 1 from left, removed the spray menu, bound spray 1 to where spray menu had been, and bound interact to left.
For torbjorn i use the x button (ps4) for switching weapons and L3 for jumping so i don’t have to worry about that.
I use L1 for jumping and L3 for crouching
Ability one and two will go on R1 and X depending on the aim requirement.
Eg;
R1; swift strike, sleep dart, hook.
X; deflect, nade, breather.
Interesting, i guess everyone has their set up, but i’d usually sacrifice instant t-bag for quicker to press abilities.
I usually have specific setups for each hero.

Crouch on L3 isn’t for tea bagging
I’m mainly a support player, crouch is on L3 so I can tap it when I enter sight lines so I don’t get my head taken off

I can’t even be mad at the people who use KBM on console anymore.

Without being able to use your voice lines, the value of every loot box is dramatically reduced, no?
