Im gonna keep calling him

It seems like theres a lot of people with an urge to let everyone know u are gonna keep calling Cole Cassidy by his old name.

But as Ive asked in another thread, just because I insist calling any of u guys Farting Mcfartsalot doesnt make it your name, and same applies here.

So in celebration of the birth of Cole Cassidy, lets make up a name for every person who refuses to call him Cole Cassidy and go with that name from now on for them, because apparently if we choose to call someone something then it has to be their names.

Most will take Cassidy as his screen name just like Wrecking Ball while still calling him by his hero name McCree

Hi there Steven

Possibly. Im gonna try out Cass

The change wasn’t for or about you. It was for and about the Overwatch team and Blizzard in general. The name was something that they didn’t want to be associated with anymore.

The team can express their support for their colleagues in Blizzard who were affected by the abuse detailed in the lawsuit, and their commitment to maintaining an environment where that won’t happen again. People who have experienced sexual assault and harassment can play the game without being reminded of it. People who aren’t bothered by the name can continue to call him whatever they want, just like people generally don’t use the name Wrecking Ball.

I really don’t understand the problem.

So is everybody else. Those whom call him Cole or Cassidy after 5-6 years of him being McCree are going be an extreme Minority

If Overwatch 2 is successful, the game’s going to be around for years to come. People will leave, people will join, lore and cosmetic items will be released. Five or six years down the line, calling him McCree will seem like a strange affectation.

I have no problem with people referring to him by his old name as long as they don’t bother me when I use the new one.

People who will use his old name are like little kids who always do the opposite of what their mommies tell them.

Butch Cassidy murdered countless innocent lives. I don’t see the problem w/ McCree in comparison. That Dev certainly didn’t do such.

Idk I guess you’re banking on an endless stream of 10 year olds being born to replace everyone.

Tbh I don’t even think that’s what happened w/ OW1. Those playing today also played a long time ago & will continue to be the bulk of the player base in OW2.

Ill probably keep calling him Mccree.
Maybe Ill move on to cassidy but meh.

Not even for malicious reasons but like, gonna be hard to break a habit after 5 years.

yea its going to be real hard for me not to forget about jesse mccree. i dont use voice chat for callouts so thats not a problem but i do sometimes have text on so ill still probably be typing out mccree unless it becomes censored or something.

cant teach an old dog new tricks sort of thing. maybe in a couple of years or over time ill forget and use the new name

What’s happening with Overwatch 1 right now isn’t healthy. If the game doesn’t attract new players, it will die out.

It’s true that the real Butch Cassidy was much worse than the real Jesse McCree. That’s not the question at hand here.

Jesse Mcree is a person who the devs know, and whose actions affected other people they know. It’s personal for them, and it’s personal for many people in the company. That’s why they wanted to change the name.

I agree, thats why I think those who do the “im gonna keep calling him cree” are silly

Everyone is gonna struggle adjusting, but Im referring those who want to keep calling him cree to spite the devs and players for wanting to change his name

This should be McCrees new name
