I can’t play this game anymore. It’s too toxic. I can’t have a single QP match without getting flamed.

I am quitting until OW2 releases. The only people left playing this game are hateful losers who flame their team every match, yet somehow never get banned (even though I get a notification every single time I log in saying someone has been punished).

Just had a QP match with 4 new players (under level 10) and the other experienced player decided that not only was this match extremely important, but that the clear problem on the team was me, the only other experienced player.

I don’t have the ability to deal with this anymore. I don’t know how to explain to someone like this that the QP match isn’t that important, or that it’s probably the other FOUR PLAYERS who are literally still learning the mechanics of the game that cost us the win.

Interacting with players like this, every single match, is too much. Players shouldn’t have to deal with this day in and day out. This isn’t even Competitive Mode, it’s QP. I can’t have 3 matches in a row with civil, polite players. It just doesn’t happen anymore.

This game didn’t use to be this way. The majority of matches didn’t devolve into some loser blaming their entire awful life on random strangers. Now, that’s the clear majority of my matches.

Maybe I am just horrible at this game. But at some point, you’d think I’d hit a level where everyone is as bad as me, so the flaming is pointless. Haven’t hit that point yet, I guess. After 6 years. Still always my fault, every match.

I can’t complete the 1st 3rd of these mini challenges without dealing with hateful psychos like this. It feels terrible having to choose to lose out on some limited unlockable or to deal with constant flaming for 20+ matches. Games shouldn’t be like this. This is not something that should just be accepted as normal.

Dude, just play arcade modes. Archives equals guaranteed wins. Lucioball REMIX is dumb af but matches are only like 3 mins long, just slog through a bunch, get the skin easy. Nobody says anything to anyone in those modes.

Eh… Speak for yourself. This was always my Overwatch experience. Actually, people were like this in the beta which was the main reason I decided to one trick Widow way back in 2016. I have since moved away from that, but at the time, I quite enjoyed the idea of ruffling their feathers by picking their least favorite hero.

I would get blamed while hard carrying them. I would get blamed before matches even started. I would get blamed when we had literal throwers. Good times, man. It brings back a lot of fond memories.

I too, grew tired of this, however. I just ain’t vibe that way anymore. These children no longer entertain me., so I just mute chat so I do not need to hear it.

I just have voice and text chat turned off. Not ideal for communication but ideal for my sanity.

Never get banned?
I had to become softly toxic BECAUSE of people like you.
I have 2 permabanned accounts.
I lost stuff I liked.
Just because a guy can’t mute his chat.
Sure I was toxic, but it’s because I was dedicated.
Did I deserve the ban? Not IMO, but whatever.
Just mute. Literally just mute. Or go Arcade like people said.
Play a role where you don’t feel the need to tryhard.
People are happy with any tanks.

He literally just said it doesn’t matter how much he reports people because there’s always more toxicity. Toxic people are like cockroaches, you can kill one but there’s thousands more to take its place.

Obviously this person is sensitive and can’t handle chat in a pvp game, so if they don’t want to miss out on time sensitive rewards, then they have a way of getting that reward without having to be subjected to toxicity.

It’s not a solution to toxicity, it’s a solution to missing out on the event skins. I thought that was pretty obvious.

maybe if SOMEONE here instead of doin ‘‘gameplay showcase’’ with 10 mins gameplay and 50 politics instead changing chars names, have to work on a good report system.

Even with the perfect report system, you’re not gonna please everyone. Too many soft people play this game. Someone just saying something like “hey man, i don’t think the Widow into double shield is working, can you try swapping off for some shield break to see if that helps us get through this choke?” is enough to trigger someone and be considered toxic. Which is honestly ridiculous, but that’s the nature of this community.

Nobody, ever, is gonna be 100% satisfied, and nobody, ever, is going to not get deeply, personally offended by the slightest suggestion that maybe a different strategy might be better.

It is statistically impossible to please everyone. If we take away chat altogether and eliminate that form of toxicity, a different form will take its place, and the people who liked having chat and being able to communicate with their teammates will be upset with having lost the ability to do so.

There is, and I cannot make this clearer than I am making it, no ultimate solution to toxicity because there is no way to predict who will be toxic. Blizzard gives you to the tools to remove yourself from toxic situations. You can mute, you can disable text chat, you can opt out of voicechat. If you know you’re soft and can’t handle toxicity, then just remove yourself from that situation, you don’t need Blizzard to cuddle you and tell you they punished the big, bad bully.

blizz is building a community over years. if twitch streamers can look their chat alone or with some mods I bet a huge company like blizz will do wonders. They’re responsible for their community.

This is what happens when A) the punishment system is too lax, and B) nothing is in place to manage or regulate the smurf/alt accounts.

If punishments need numerous actions to take effect, and are nothing more than a slap on the wrist (the worst possible punitive action is just a season ban), what’s the incentive for players to resist being toxic? Plus, even when action is taken, if they can just hop onto a different account and continue playing unhindered, how can that even be called a punishment?

There’s absolutely no incentive to be a positive player in this game, and until Blizzard creates those incentives, it’s not going to change.

You need to grow some shell bro and get better at the game too. Toxicity should be a juice for you that you drink for breakfast and do lil burp back. They are nobody, you are the variable of each of your games, the rest of the team are either helping you or become your deadlift weight. Would advise seeing them as your servants and see what they can offer. If they are annoying, press the mute button selectively.

I normally take a few seconds even in game to mute/avoid those toxic people and I recommend you do the same. Had a weirdo team member yelling racial slurs at me and another teammate in Comp RQ just because the other teammate said they need DPS to do more work than they were. Just took a second to mute him and finished the game. Reported him and got a message about ‘a certain player getting penalised for their bad behaviour.’ Pretty sure it was the same guy I reported lol. It helps me a lot so I rarely ever find toxic messages or VC whether it’s towards me or another player, but I’ve only been playing this game for almost a year now.

There is nothing forcing you to interact. VC isn’t mandatory, you don’t have to read chat.

… I feel you have never played any other online games. Cause, in any game, if there is a team, that team will always be blamed before your average player will go “maybe it’s me?”.

Don’t join voice chat and just /hidechat and ignore everyone. Just enjoy the hero you pick and play to the best of your ability.

Pretty sure they weren’t “new” players but either someone leveling accounts to sell to smurfs or people leveling new smurfs themselves. This game doesn’t have that many first timers joining it just now.

It’s because the toxic people drive the chill and “adult” players away. So yeah, it’s mostly just them left playing the game.
