Im done playing overwatch until rein is worth playing

i get knocked around like a ping pong ball, my shield gets ripped to shreds in record time, and i can barley tell who the heck i am shielding until i get passed up by them because of my crap movement speed during shield. There’s been how many heroes released since they nerfed reins charge? 3? unless rein is worth playing im DONE!

I have a ton of time on Reinhardt. You should know by now that you can increase your movement speed slightly by dropping the shield momentarily and jumping forward right as you bring the shield back up. This allows you to keep relatively the same pace as your team, but it comes at the cost of allowing some minor damage through your shield during those brief downtimes.

I would much rather they just fix his Charge and Earthshatter bugs at this point. Luckily they are reworking Earthshatter from the ground up because they couldn’t get the bugs out of the code.

You’re not a true Reinhardt main if you don’t have patience.

Come on guise, lets not kid ourselves, You know a big reason why Rein is picked is because his shield is the best thing against Hanzo’s storm arrows to give the best protection to your team.

Also the synergy for Zarya who feeds the Grav+Dragon combo.

Rein is a symptom of the meta, not the core of the meta itself.

I think it’s more about people getting better at DEALING with him.

Oddly, I’ve seen some excellent Rein play in the last couple of days, but it seems to be a lot more about knowing when not to use the shield. I tend to play Mystery Heroes, where he’s not played all that well, but on QP…he’s still very strong in the hands of a good player.

So I think it’s more a case of needing to adjust tactics to deal with how people are playing against him, rather than any flaw in the character. I’m rubbish with him, but others seem to do well.

This is definitely 100% true. His main function is to be a walking rectangle for his team. If he spurs a meta, he would have been spurring the last several seasons of metas, which he hasn’t.

A lot of this meta is built around keeping Hanzo protected since he’s still a little too overtuned at the moment. Zarya and Reinhardt just synergize well, and since Zarya is picked to further accent Hanzo’s kit, then it just shows that Reinhardt is just a result of what the meta favors.

REIN main encountered

If you’re having issues with CC you should be playing Orisa.

Why aren’t you playing her?

Oh it’s because Rein is OP in every other conceivable way so it doesn’t matter he sucks against CC.

And this pretty much sums up where Reinhardt currently sits.
Bring back spam, and his shield drops like a rock.
Bring back dive, and he can’t protect his team.

It’s not Reinhardt’s fault Orisa’s kit is situational. She could honestly use an extra 100 HP.

Orisa isn’t really that underpowered. And if she’s situational, this meta should be her situation.

It’s clearly a Rein problem when he’s just damage sponging through it.

Nah.

Even Jeff Kaplan stated Reinhardt is not in need of nerfs or buffs because he’s so easily influenced by the meta that he’s just one of those heroes that will see a rise and fall in pickrate from time to time.

Orisa’s lower pickrate is because of Orisa’s kit. Her shield has less HP and she can’t move with it. So a deathball meta works better when Reinhardt can move with his shield. His shield does not need a nerf because it absolutely gets melted in seconds when it’s focused (crazy what teamwork can do), and he cannot attack anyone with his shield up, so he’s literally a slowly moving rectangle.

Orisa doesn’t have much synergy with Zarya, who is the ult enabler for the core of the meta which is Hanzo. This isn’t rocket science, anyone who plays this game competitively understands this.

I don’t understand, he’s Meta because hes useful but people are upset that he’s useful for the wrong reasons?

That’s some backwards logic you got going on there.

Ummm… where the hell did I even say that bud? I’m not upset about anything.

The thing is, Reinhardt literally has not changed since day 1 of release. The only thing they changed is the Earthshatter height effectiveness, which resulted in ES being littered in bugs.

It’s not fair to demand a bunch of nerfs and changes just because a hero is finally seeing play time again.

Doesn’t the same go for Hanzo then too?

People are calling for Nerfs even though hes finally seeing some play time.
