For a bit of background info I am a master tank and grandmaster damage and support who got invested in the game when ow2 came out. What’s fun to me are the matches where you don’t know if you will win or lose, the different types of characters and ways to play them, and even the story/lore behind each character and their interactions. Despite the game’s shortcomings, I’ve had more fun overall, at least until this season. This season’s ranked (which was pretty much all I played for the all the other seasons) was so terrible and just unfun to play in every role. So I tried quickplay but it had just as many of its own issues on that as well. Nobody was around my rank so most games were a stomp even when I did braindead stuff like lowering my sensitivity heavily or doing some type of meme strat or challenge. So instead I would try out characters I weren’t that good with which added the fun of the challenge for a little while. But eventually I got too good with those characters and it became boring again. On top of that playing against a Sojourn or Sombra was instantly enraging because they seem either overpowered (Sojourn) or just annoying to go against without any satisfaction from killing them (Sombra). It makes me feel like I’m fighting against the game itself rather than a person who is just playing a character well, which is just unfun to me regardless if the person is even doing anything of value for their team. Overall I’ve been having a bad experience this season and is wondering if the game is fun or unfun to anyone else?
i think its ok to put the game down for a while. seems like most of the time people are forcing themselves to have fun which doesnt work. i havnt played at all today and i wonder if i will tomorrow. of course ill play again but its when i feel like it. for me i always “FEEL” like playing overwatch once in a while
of course it doesnt have that same feeling when it was new but thats all games really. you can do something till it just becomes unfun anymore. i dont think ill ever log onto world of warcraft again and have fun. i use to play that game 24/7 like way back in the late 2000s
ive played the mass effect series (all three and even the newer ones) like 1000 times but yea not gonna do another play through… ive been really thinking about it since i havent done a playthrough in over a year but yea… if i do ill be like … oh yea… meh
wonder what the new one will be like coming out… i think its a couple of years away
there was some matches i was having fun but i did have some times during the night last night that i had a meltdown like the stress ended up being overwhelming
online competitve games do that to you. for some its a way to relieve stress but it can be harmful as well. i remember the halo 2 days (actually all early 2000s xbox live days) and yea it was better then since you didnt get in trouble and can SAY ANYTHING you wanted over the mic. i always forgot about it the next day

I wouldn’t play this game if it was “unfun,” so, yeah, I enjoy playing it.
I’m not sure why you want to know if people that play this game enjoy it or not… I would think the answer would be obvious.
Overwatch feels like it’s always felt to me - kind of hit or miss. Some games are absolutely horrendous, but most are fun, even if we lose. I have some minor gripes (Sombra, mostly) but the core gameplay is still fun and still feels like Overwatch
Although I don’t play with anyone, I was kinda having my best time this whole last year and a bit until support queue times became busted. I play pretty much only Brig Lucio and was a Lucio one trick for the 3 years before OW2 playing only solo ranked. Really was enjoying OW2 but GM1-3 queue times are never less than 20 minutes (at least Xbox NA East) so I just don’t play.
I try tank, dps. It’s a struggle.
yea everyone is different about “best times” in overwatch (its subjective)
for me its when widowmaker was vanilla and a bit after that. she almost had ashe’s fire rate so you could make mistakes here and there and not be punished as much
crazy thing i think she was balanced since open queue days and there was a lot of solutions to widowmaker. double shields everyone picking tank and going after her …etc
i think role queue made the game more frustrating maybe? for some i guess
Disabling chat and not joining voice coms has improved my gameplay experience 10-fold
yea that was a big turning point for me too. i think i been w/o chat and voice for 2 and a half years. way better but yea i do miss the vanilla days when everyone was crazy on the mic and it was brand new… almost felt like the early 2000s xbox live days
in launch i dont think you got punished as much and were less of a risk for being banned

I really don’t understand the mindset behind players sticking with games they aren’t having fun with, even if that reason heavily falls on the investment they’ve put in it.
If you aren’t having fun consistently, it makes no sense to put yourself through the ringer of frustration.
Human beings are supposed to default to the path of least resistance and avoiding pain. This community seems to enjoy it for some reason. In this case, they stick around and suffer, but the painful experience isn’t actually an improvement like say lifting weights or success after a life goal/challenge.
to OP credit, they did mention it’s really this season that’s been bad. But my comment was more about the players who stick around and are frustrated as a whole.
Honestly, I think the game is fun until either Widowmaker, Sombra, or sometimes Hanzo are played, then the game becomes very unfun.
Certain tanks and supports can be annoying from time to time, especially Mercy, but I think those 3 dps characters cause the most headaches because their kits just don’t fit into the game

Weirdly enough, I’m still making OW friends. Guys… you know who you are… I swear I’ll return and play with you. One day. I promise.

I catch far to many people cheating to have fun. I just start collecting leaver penalties bc its so bad. Game is dead. Only way to play now is by downloading a program. Even in comp its a mess. No one wants to be honest about it.
It’s more fun watching people play on Youtube than real life. lol
