I'm considered Toxic and need to be suspended?

Would I be considered toxic just cuz some random player in my team said that they hate me? Even though I had no intentions to throw the game for my team and did what I could to contribute, though I may have mistakenly or accidentally done so back in attempt to get some achievements, especially the nightmarish “The Floor is Lava” Lucio achievement and I was only trying to do that in quick play, not competitive and people had told me to stop doing that and do that in custom game, BUT trophies cannot be earned in custom games does it??? (I already got that achievement, so no worries)… And I told them that it’s mean to hate others, but they said to me that “I” was mean first. And told me it’s hopeless and tell me to get out of the game… Even though I pleaded to tell me what I could do to help and improve.

There are even times, I just asked for help to people on the achievement and some said no, focused killing me hard, and reported me.

And just overall people calling me trash or say that I suck, or L. And even if I tried what I could, even telling me and some of my friend to quit Overwatch ASAP. What if I don’t quit though? Would I get suspended or banned if I people report me for not uninstalling the game? Some even called me dense for not pocketing them when I was trying out Mercy and was mainly pocketing my friend or any of those who are actually trying to contribute on getting the Robot pushed and although I still want to keep make sure I keep everyone healed as long as it’s safe for me to do and enemies can’t find and focus me hard. And that person’s excuse is because they’re doing more damage than a friend of mine who’s also playing dps, but I think doing a lot of damage isn’t enough to contribute, especially if one is mainly shooting at the tank more than anybody else around them. and they refuse to listen to me when I warn them that it’s not appropriate to insult others just cuz they aren’t pocketed as often and encourage to be nice and have a good sport. Plus I don’t know if there anything good about people saying that they’re better than anybody else and that their opponent is easy and pathetic and tell them to quit… Wait aren’t new players welcome to try and learn pvp as well or even get a more easier start in low difficulty ai? Don’t veteran needs to give new players a chance to learn too. What good does it bring on lowering player base by telling people to uninstall just cuz they are criticized saying they’re trash?

Do I need to be silenced or suspended just cuz I persistently tried and participated what I could till the end of the game in quick play no matter how much I could die or lose the game, but I don’t intend to feed or go recklessly and never rage quit and neither do I insult back at anybody else, and want to encourage to have good sports and be nice to others even if we may not always win? But I dunno… even if I advice that it isn’t nice and appropriate to judge someone that they’re trash or insult others in general, some people think it’s never their fault and accuse or like deflect back at me saying that I’m toxic, not them… Am I even toxic just cuz I often apologize for any mistakes or accidents I may have caused and ask what they would like me to do better or show me clearly on what I could’ve done to help my team better… I mean I do lack confidence in myself… and can often admit it may have been my fault just cuz of all these I may have done… I admit I’m not perfect and I still have things to learn and improve so I dunno if I have to get out and uninstall the game just cuz others think I should cuz it’s never their fault…

So far I did quietly reported people like those as well as those saying like ez or say that the other team suck or a teammate saying you all suck or trash, just in case it might be something worth reporting. Though some of my reports has been told that it has been taken actions against it.

Overall I just wanna see whether or not I will be safe from being suspended or not because I would hate to have my battle pass tier progress slowed down by that… like if I would be safe or not because of those people insulting me and telling me to uninstall.

To be fair, Mercy players pocketing a DPS while you are outperforming them without the pocket is lowkey annoying. I do not personally want a pocket myself, but you do have to wonder what the hell is going on in the Mercy’s mind when it happens…

I digress, it sounds as if you are not even vaguely toxic. But you can be suspended regardless. Do not respond to these people. I highly encourage you to leave chat. That will reduce your chance of being reported by them quite a bit.

Tbh, I am not a Mercy main and just want to practice her for a few hours in qp, but I do what I could to avoid neglecting any of my team and just damage boost anyone my gut thinks I can trust on them to guard me or at least if they’re trying their best to keep me safe. Cuz I wouldn’t want to pocket damage boost someone where the enemies could easily see me more vulnerable. Overall I do what I can best on what I think would help carry my team more… though I am unsure being told to hard pocket someone… and confuses me thinking everyone else also needs help too…

But even I do get reported, would I even have any risk of being suspended? If I ever did something terribly wrong, I am so sorry… I really REALLY don’t mean to cause harm to others.

The best way to complete achievements is in competitive. You just have to wait for a game with leavers and then ask the other team to help you complete the achievement you want.

Honestly I feel like that is inconsistent to do as punishment are caused for frequent leavers which is discouraged to do and it’s highly more luck based on finding leaver. Plus the remaining team may still refuse to help, so sorry to say. I have trouble agreeing with you, because I think it’s very luck based depending on the players reaction to leavers, some could still be tryhards.

From what I skimmed through (sorry, it’s too ranty), even though your intentions were not malicious, you were in the wrong trying to farm the achievement. Whilst Blizzard has some responsibility on their end for including stupid achievements which actively encourage such plays, at the end of the day we are talking about your actions here.

This is a team based game. It doesn’t matter what mode you are playing, it involves 9 other people.

If people see that you are not playing “properly” and it’s causing them to have a bad match/experience, they have every right to be annoyed and report and indeed that’s what happened to trigger the system. At the end of the day nobody cares about you getting your achievement, that’s your personal business. Whilst you can rightfully argue you don’t care about the others as well, then that’s where the report system comes in and in this respect, it actually works as intended.

1 person’s wants should not overrule or dictate the wants of 9 others. Sorry, I know you want the achievement and there’s nothing wrong with that per se, but as I said it’s not about “you”.

The best way to get the achievement is to ask in chat at the beginning and if people agree, then great, if not you move onto the next one until a team does.

I am done with getting the achievements I want for now and I’m not gonna farm everything because there are certain heroes I don’t play as. Plus I do want to get some pixel and cute sprays as well.

And yes I did ask in chat for help but in one game, they just get mad at me, focus me hard, and report me for it.

And I would really apologize if I didn’t play properly and rly want to forgive and overcome mistakes… and I do care about others well being… but I want to mainly ask this… do I deserve to be suspended because some people insult me and call me trash and tell me to uninstall? Even though I have no intentions to throw or feed in game and do what I can best and I never rage quit nor do I blame anyone else and just want to have a good sports…

I wish Blizzard Support can check and see this if whether or not, I should be suspended or if the game is better off if I’m gone or if I uninstall like some players may say to me.

They may take safer positions for us. I also prefer pocketing sojourn for more mobility. I may also pocket Echo or Pharah to fly high.

I disagree. Lucio should be wall riding and helping with elims. I’ve done it. Last game I harassed support and a really good Soujourn all game. Nobody complained. I was just having fun, but I did out damage and get more elimination than our DPS and kept Mercy, Kiriko, and Soujourn distracted. Who’s to say how to play a hero properly?

You’re going to have to do more than that to get suspended. Just ignore these idiots. People threaten to report but it won’t work.

It really sounds like you’re desperate for someone tell you you’re in the right, that you’re doing well and that the other people are in the wrong for having a go at you.

My question is: Why do you care what randos are saying? Either what they are saying is garbage, and unimportant. OR you actually feel you’re in the wrong but want someone else to say otherwise.

If you think you’re trying your best, that you’re not throwing, or hard pocketing your duo: What does it matter what anyone else thinks?

There are some horrible people playing this game, people with the kind of social skills that’d make you avoid them if you met them irl. The opinions of some people playing this game really, truly do not matter.

It might be worth just muting chat and keeping comms only for the people you’re queued up with. Don’t listen to people’s threats, that’ll just make you sad.

Blizzard CS don’t read the forums. If you get reported and suspended and you feel you did nothing wrong: open a ticket and contest it.

My apologies, I guess I just have trouble understanding if I’m guilty for anything or not and I didn’t knew people insulting like that were garbages… so I could worry if anyone who reports me and get me suspended would not be appealable and that I don’t want to be too ignorant toward others and I do want to continue to keep the chat up so maybe I can help on reporting players that seem unpleasant and maybe see if I would met people who are not toxic and are actually friendly.

Please don’t apologise, I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable there.

What I’m saying is: the empty threats of unhinged random people on the internet should not bother you. If they act on their threats and you are innocent, this will be very apparent to CS.

By all means, keep chat open, but do not feel like it is your duty to weed out toxic players by doing so.

The toxic players always stick out because of the negative experience they bring with them. But I hope you encounter far more perfectly normal people than the individuals in your OP.

Ah thanks for some advice, so I guess just because people deflect back at me that I’m toxic instead of them doesn’t mean I’m the on guilty huh? especially if they were the one who initiated the insult.

I guess the only advice I need from you or others is how to not be afraid on being suspended and rest assure that the actual toxic players can’t do anything to try to get me to be suspended if I have no intentions to threaten, or sabotage the game for anyone. Oh and of course I won’t do anything else violating like cheating, besides I do play on consoles anyways, and just hope for a nice and fair game and a good sport. I kinda hope Blizzard will do something to be more strict toward toxic players.

My suggestion as a person who has been playing OW since its release. Seen all the ups and downs.

Ignore the people who are toxic in game if they are bothering you.
Mute, Block, report (if necessary) and move on.

There are far more players that are pleasant most of the time than there are overtly toxic bed wetters playing. No need to leave chat over the few bad apples.

But that’s also up to you.

But like a commenter said above, there’s really no need to place so much importance on negative things said by randoms in the game. No need to respond. Just move on. Your ego won’t be bruised so easily when you can learn to do that. Soon, you’ll learn that whatever they say doesn’t matter.

Welcome to the club of getting punished but still being a good person.

It happens. We learn and move on. Engaging in chat carries that risk. You’re inadvertently asking for negative attention when you engage with toxic randos.

Just do your thing and turn chat off. It’ll probably help you improve honestly. No distractions. Not implying anything, just saying there’s a silver lining to turning chat off.

Nah I’d rather keep the chat on because I can still be curious what other people is talking about, plus I feel like what I want more than just turning off chat is to not be afraid of being suspended that’s all. And I still wanna do what I can to identify toxic people for me to report.

It’s not about playing a hero properly, it’s about perception. In your case, you were clearly seen to be contributing by the majority and so it wasn’t an issue what your intentions were. In OP’s case, the majority saw it as a hinderance to their team for whatever reason and unless we have a replay or hear their side, we can’t jump to many conclusions.

Reports don’t always follow reality, we all know that. OP played the best they could and I’m not questioning it, but that’s not the point I’m making.

I think it’s good etiquette to ask the lobby beforehand and if they agree great. You will actually find that one lobby which will agree and may even join you in achievement hunting (I’ve seen it).

As I said, bad move on Blizzard’s part to include such achievements but that’s my opinion. It leads to such scenarios.

These are all reportable messages. Just click on the text, select report, and type “Harassing toxic text messages” in the report description. You will get them chat-banned for their hateful texts, then enjoy their silence. If your reports are valid, then you will get a “thank you for reporting” message upon your next login (usually takes a day). My report rate is around 90% when it comes to getting processed, but certain key words like “EZ”, “Trash”, “Loser”, sexist text, racist text, etc. will always results in action being taken.

It’s hard to dislike me on Lucio, but I played him a lot!

I think that spray helps new Lucios out. He’s gotta learn to wallride and get picks. I could be wrong, but I remember doing it and it improving my wallride picks.

Ah thanks for the advice and yeah I had been thank for my reports before when I logged in ^^
