What our team was told at the begining of a match today. The guy went on to say how he was tired of being flamed because he always had 4 gold medals. We did push to 1st point (payload). I made sure to prevent him from picking Moira again on defense. It was entertaining watching him whine though as he held his medals over our heads after throwing our match. He had the audacity to call it his “playstyle.” Yes a “play style” which is indeed bad

He didn’t heal thats the point. He announced that he wouldn’t. Also damage is pretty easy to get with Moira because its not like everyone else’s. She can throw a 400 damage orb across a team but it just does 400 but its not directly applied. If thats all she did which is indeed what she did then yeah pretty easy
As a Moira main, I should have gold or silver Elims.
Gold objective kills comes with the territory.
But I should never have a medal for damage. She doesn’t dish out enough, even with spamming orbs. Maybe If I’m lucky, I’ll get bronze.

Same with the people going “Battle Mercy”. I can understand in QP, but not in Comp. During your ult can be fine, but all the time is extremely annoying to have to play with.
Yes I’ve seen some Moira’s doing this kind of stuff. Rushing toward you, not respecting the fact that you are a DPS and trying to kill you.
They usually calm down after being destroyed a few times though…
As this guy climbs he will get punished more and more and the problem will solve itself.

Well … and what did your comp look like?
I mean, ok Moira as dps is a bit suboptimal, but at least he was so nice and anounced his intentions so you could build a comp with that.
Sidenote: Medal whiners are obviously annoying as f**k and should stop mentioning them unless to offer a data point as part of a constructive argument of the current match situation.
You intentionally sabotaged the game. I would have reported you for taking his Moira just so he couldn’t play her

I am sure that the player would have inadvertently healed. They may have thrown healing orbs to heal themselves, or they could have even healed accidently by using her ult.
Regardless, if you know they’re going to not heal, at least you can figure out a plan:
- Pick more self sustaining characters
- Pick another healer who can supplement
- Ensure you don’t take on unnecessary damage, play something like a pick comp
More healing isn’t always the answer. Think of characters utilities too.

Around 2000 SR a “good” DPS Moria is probably an asset to the team in the same was as a “good” anything is an asset.
If you had run another main healer (Ana or Mercy) + Brig you would have had a viable comp with either one DPS or one Tank.
If you won the game - congratulations you understand how to play.
If not, you threw that game - well done.

I don’t really like DPS Moira, but there is one thing wrong with what you said (given you have a second healer). They had 4 gold medals, right? So I’ll assume elims, obj time and obj kills are three of them since it makes the most sense.
The problem is that damage and healing are left. So either they had gold damage or they had gold healing. They were either outperforming the DPS in terms of damage, which should pretty much never happen as Moira, or they had gold heals, in which case they were actually healing. That’s only a problem if you had another healer though. If you didn’t have another healer and he said he wouldn’t be healing, as bad as it was for them to do that, it kinda seems obvious a second healer should be picked.
I’m not saying the DPS Moira was in the right, I’m just curious.

“I’m not healing” means one of two things:
a) Zero heals. That means that I’m gonna watch you die and not push the button.
In which case, report, thrower.
b) DPS focus. That means he does not heal when he can damage, meaning essentially 100% damage orbs and focusing of damage. That is legal, if bad, play. In lower ranks being able to do ANY damage consistently is a big plus, so a no-aim Moira is an effective DPS, I did that too when Moira came out and nobody knew what her weaknesses are.
In case of b) then no report. He’s bad, but it’s his right to be bad and he can play any way he wants.
I’d say, like other people, that when he climbs he’ll be punished but we all know he’s not gonna climb because these kinds of mistakes will forever keep you low. Damned my teammates!

You seem to think this is a mistake - DPS Moria is a totally viable strategy to climb out of Bronze and Silver.
As long as you adjust when it stops working (probably somewhere in gold) I don’t see any problem with it.

these kind of moira’s annoy me. I like moira, but when I play I rarely throw damage orbs. its all heals and use my alt fire when people get too close. DPS moira only works in FFA matches.
DPS moira-ing aside. If you only use heal orbs and not much biotic grasp, you underperform drastically, because you don’T provide the only utility you have (dmg) to your team. You could at this point just play Mercy.

You are both wrong and technically you are more wrong than the Moira.

The only thing the moira did wrong was, (at least from your description) being rude about how they said it. That’s it. what you did is borderline gameplay sabotage.
Moira is a hybrid character, I’ve played moira as a dps in the flex role multiple times. You can play Moira as a dps at times. The thing you don’t do is not announce it to your team. You don’t let your team think you are going to be a main heal and then play her as a dps, but this guy didn’t do that he said up front that he was playing her as a dps. So being rude may be the only thing he did wrong.
You on the other hand didn’t understand what that person was doing and took it upon yourself to intentionally screw him up. Playing Moira as a dps is just playing a dps, if you want a 2-2-2, like they said you still need 2 healers.
- They weren’t wrong
- It is a viable play at some ranks, whether or not you’ve seen it before or not
- They let you know before the match started.
- were they even doing bad as a dps or did you just disagree with the entire concept?
This is why you were more wrong in this situation than the Moira player.

The moira isn’t doing anything wrong though. And he was even kind enough to warn you before hand about it. If you insist on having someone on heal duty you can get the dps to switch or maybe yourself. Even a 6 dps pick is justified if it wins the game. There’s nothing wrong with dpsing moira, the one who is wrong is always the guys who throws tantrums and not putting in the effort to win regardless of the strat.
Like I said, low. Bronze is bottom 6%, of course any consistent damage will boost you up, but that stops working in, at best, gold and you’ll be stuck forever dropping and climbing because you’re not good enough to stay in gold and you can’t change up because if you could change and win you’d climb anyway.
I’m thinking “silver hell”. Will go in gold briefly, consider high score as norm, “I deserve gold” and then rage when falling back because any average Dva will dominate him like in banned Japanese cartoons.
Wait for Fade, Boost, eat the orb, spray her down, 1.5 seconds, GG. In fact Moira is pretty much delicious to anyone who can aim and is not very very low on health.
