These two in that specific order make the most sense to me, and here’s why!

The OW devs have a habit of doing two things when it comes to hero releases: using one hero as a “lead up” to another hero, and announcing the super important/hyped heroes at Blizzcon. Orisa built up to Doomfist, just as Wrecking Ball perfectly builds up Junker Queen. Sombra and the highly requested Talon Healer (while we had no idea about Moira as a character, the concept of her was hyped up in the community) were both revealed at Blizzcon with the fanfare they deserved as important characters. In my opinion, Junker Queen fits the bill as a lore-important character with a lot of hype, and would make for an exciting reveal.
Along with all that, we already know her voice and character design. Might as well deliver her before any more “surprise” characters.
-Emre-
Hero 30 will be released in March, and likely teased/revealed in late February. This would be a full year after Brigitte, and her teaser that first dropped Emre’s name. Going back to what I’ve said prior, Brigitte could’ve definitely been an intentional build-up to Emre, albeit not with a consecutive release.
Given that Archives will happen again a month after Hero 30, Emre would also make a fantastic transition into what could be the next Archives event: Operation White Dome.
I dont see what people see in the Junker Queen character the picture on the poster everyone raves about looked pretty un-inspiring to me dont know if she really fits the lore all that well don’t think ahe ads all that much
I can definatley see the next hero being a tank with how they reworked Torb & added Hammond they are almost setting up for some sort of Tank with those big ults which are area denial abilities maybe it is some sort of Omnic tank with mostly armour add to that i could see it being a talon character as well could Sanjay or Sven maybe
Brigitte was actually on most people’s lists for hero 27. I don’t think she was that surprising. JunkerQueen is like Sombra and Doomfist. Hyped up a little bit early but expected to join the cast eventually
We got Ana, followed by an entire ARG that lead to Sombra.
We got Orisa, whose lore lead right to Doomfist.
We got Hammond, who not only has Junker Queen in his teasers, but a full design reveal in his Origin Story and a freaking spray that features her.
Heroes that lead to other heroes, which was my point.
I can also argue that Doomfist lead to Moira, since she was stealth-teased in his comic and their lore is intertwined.
Lmao are you serious? Looks like you need a history lesson.
Literally right after Moira’s Blizzcon reveal, we got the Reinhardt animated short which featured a fully animated and voiced Brigitte. This immediately put her on the radar as a potential hero. Literally every Hero 27 prediction video featured her. In fact, the only people who didn’t think she could be Hero 27 were arguing that she was too obvious.
Now don’t get me wrong I love the Junkerqueen. She’s my wife. I spent $67 on a custom made fleece blanket with her image on it after she was revealed. But I don’t think she’d make for a great hero. Lore-wise, she’s great for existing conflicts within Junkertown and to our Junker bois, but outside of that I can’t see her finding interest in participating in the objectives.
Actually, I think I just found what you were talking about. It’s not a tweet, but an interview on a website called “Invenglobal.” I can’t link it due to my low trust level, but I can post the quote.
Michael: Operation White Dome is a fairly important event in the story of Overwatch. We have nothing certain for Emre Sarioglu but are considering coming up with a backstory for him.
Here’s how I would interpret that:
Operation: White Dome is indeed important to the lore, and therefore a candidate to being included in the Archives event.
At the time of the interview, they may not have decided whether to have him be a playable character or just a NPC like Fio was in Retribution.
However, between then and now, they may have come to the conclusion that I have, in that his addition would work really well as a lead-in to the next Archives event.
Well, let’s think about that for a second.
The attack/defense objectives for the maps already don’t make sense for most heroes. Why would Doomfist want to escort a director to his trailer? Why would Zenyatta want to deliver an EMP bomb to an Omnic colony? Why would Roadhog want to retrieve the remains of Baldrich von Addler? I could go on, but you get my point. The gameplay is non-canonical. All a character needs to do to fit into the gameplay is to have the capacity to fight.
