Illiari the most depressing hero

Her origin is way more depressing than even hanzo the brother killer.

How is she even working

That’s true. I can’t imagine in real life someone who move on like nothing happened* or no one would investigate or check up on such an event.

*Of course she is upset about it but wants to redeem herself apparently. But I’m curious how she recovered and where she got her tech afterward and if shes an ally with OW or something? I hope they reveal more at a faster pace than the previous stuff.

Having a tragic backstory is the most common hero trope. Look at heroes in other places like comics, movies, even other games. Superman’s entire planet was destroyed. Batman’s parents were murdered. How many Disney characters are orphans? Aloy from Horizon is motherless and raised as an outcast.

It’s not surprising to have a tragic backstory or two in Overwatch.

Yeah, I was already getting the old "noone understands me >:( "

I’m like, girl, you are living in a universe that just had a terminator 2: judgment day war. It’s just tired, boring and might as well be a classic mary sue back story.

Same she seems to have moved on too much than torbjorn

Now imagine Superman the baby blew up the planet and Batman murdered his parents.

This is not just tragic but she is the tragedy causer as well.

Ya all their latest heroes seem this way and xcept rammatra

Was there ever any need to recover from emotional trauma?

She simply carry on because she is strong female Inti Warrior, and thats all to it according to Blizzard. Why do you require more complex backstory? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Jokes aside, there are numerous topics about her backstory being poorly written.

So like Rogue from X-Men who has Captain Marvel’s powers because she touched her too long and put her in a permanent coma. Or Spider-Man who could have prevented his uncle’s untimely demise and became a hero as a way to atone.

Nothing is new under the sun.

That’s alright I’m talking wrt to overwatch

She has the most tragic back story.

They’ve put her into a Mary Sue-inator and somehow the population of an entire town was on a small hilltop.

I don’t know. It sounds like an average edgelord DnD character.

Many OW heroes have tragic backstories.

Brigitte has the least tragic backstory.

From the origin video, it seem that the accident didn’t wiped the entire population of the town, let alone the nation. Just every other Inti Warrior, because all of them were in the temple where the augmentation ritual took place.
She then went to self-imposed exile, which only prove how poorly written the backstory is.
If her nation had need for such augmented warriors in first place, since she was depicted defending civilians even in very young age as warrior trainee, she was neglecting her duties to protect what has remained since she is the last one Inti Warrior remaining.

What exactly is tragic in Brigitte’s backstory? She simply decided to help Reinhardt as squire, maintaining his crusader power armor, and later as Reinhardt having it more and more difficult due to his age, she joined the fight on the battle field as combat healer to make sure he will not pick on more enemies than he can handle, and if he still do, she will be there for him to assist in the battle.

I have no clue why you pointed that out, but that works! :joy:
