Illari pylon changes

Developer Comments: We are making the Healing Pylon weaker, as it’s often placed out of line-of-sight or at odd angles and isn’t being destroyed as often as we expect.

Am I reading this right?? It is often placed out of line of sight or at odd angles to avoid getting destroyed so the solution here is to make it weaker?? Are you kidding me?? That is your solution?? I have lost a lot of respect for your intelligence Blizzard…

It doesn’t need to be changed at all… Let alone made easier to kill and weakening it’s heals… The thing is huge!! Bright and easy to see… She has a long cool down to cast another when it is destroyed… The pylon is her main source of healing…

Other teams need to look for it… Or turn it into a regular turret like Torbjorn… Give it a fair amount of health and a good shield and make it repairable…

I can’t believe you all did this!! Wait… I can… Far be it me to expect you all actually play the games you have developed…

Wow, Diablo, and Overwatch… You all have a knack for screwing up with the player characters and ruining them or taking away the fun aspect…

Players need to learn to play Illari and others need to learn to play against her… Nerfing her main heal was a horrible mistake… She is worthless to play now… Great job… You get a gold star of stupidity… Be sure to put it on the water cooler where most of your great ideas come from…

Great job Blizz…

“People are using this core part of her kit in a way that doesn’t make it useless and so we’re instead nerfing it to make it useless.”

Dude its a low skill pocket mercy, how effective should it be?

Without buffing the rest of her kit, which gives her 0 survivability without pylon and relies upon pylon to be competitive on healing? Very.

Directly proportional to its placements and how easily it is destroyed.

I have decided if this hits the sweet spot yet. I think it might be fine.

Illari’s utility is multi taskin and I think we can still do that ok. More beam uptime for sure but that’s good.

The issue here is they are making her more of a mercy type healer and moving her away from how she was designed… I find her type of healing fun… But what they did was an assault on her main source of heals… Her beam heal is a back up when she doesn’t have her pylon or a player is out of range of it… Making her use her beam more would be a huge mistake… I would rather play mercy at that point…

I still think she’s pretty good, but i also think it was wishful thinking to believe they’d let turret stay as it was with the whole sym/torb crackdown.

The reason you even call it her MAIN heal is exactly why they are changing it.

Alec even stated that it was accounting for 63% of her healing output. You can read it many ways you want, but the turret is healing more than Illari herself is doing.

Illari’s healing resource is already approximately 50-60 hps with proper usage and not forcing a 3sec delay between heals. They likely will make some adjustments to her in future, but for the most part intelligent usage of pylon makes the turret very difficult to remove.

You can reposition pylon every 8seconds WHILE ITS HEALING. Torbjorn turret can’t be repositioned at all the moment its getting value aka doing damage. Its incredibly easy to keep pylon out of the enemy team’s range. Its difficult to stop the enemy team destroying turret AND keep 100% up time.

At present, Illari is most ideal in teams which are effectively spam/poke comps. Your team puts pylon in the rear, your team rarley moves, then spams out the enemy team. The first couple of weeks are Illari FORCING themselves into every single team comp where pylon becomes easier to weaken when people aren’t playing synergistic comps.

Brigitte when she first released was so freakin good you could use her in any composition and be ideal. She even replaced a DPS slot much of the time. NOW. Brigitte is far more reasonably balanced. She’s not viable on every single team. She loses to spam/poke comps and excels in comps trying to play anti-dive where the enemy team are running 1+ flanker/dive style enemies.

So rather than trying to use Illari into every single composition, she now has to be played more intelligently, you have to be more on point with your actions, and you don’t have as much room for slop.

Right now she feels awful on escort attack, she’s useless against dive, she’s got no answer for Ana, and like… her only perk is that she has a good left click, which isn’t as good as some other suppports’ left clicks. There are a few maps where there isn’t even anywhere to really set up the pylon in a safe place. Maps where the fight moves back and forth a lot like Push also present a challenge for keeping it safe. (You can do it, but pylon is way more vulnerable)

This statement is incorrect… It can’t be moved while it is actively healing… Unless they have changed that recently… As in since yesterday…

The rest of your post is somewhat useless… The fact that her pylon accounts for 63% of her heals is a useless statement… I suppose you think that Ana should get more heals from her nade instead of shooting teammates?? Her pylon is her main heal…

Which is honestly the state of where the game should be for balance. Its impossible to try to make every single hero viable for every single scenario. Its better to have heroes excel in various areas and map types.

  • Mercy supports long range units like Pharah, Echo, Ashe, S76, etc. and helps counter sniper picks.
  • Brigitte is your support pick as a backline peeler against dive options.
  • Moira is your easy to use AoE heals compared to Baptiste while Baptiste is your stronger, but harder to use AoE heals. You can play Moira into dive more eaisly than baptiste to support a rush comp.
  • Lucio is defacto best at helping slow moving charactes like Winston, Rama, Rein, Reaper, Mei, etc.

This is really how supports ought to be is having different toolsets and different viability for different situations. SYmmetra is amazing at first point control point rushes including Lucio to get to point first befor the enemy team.

Winston and other dive tanks are excellent on Numbani 1st point attack, Dorado, Gibraltar, etc. Rein is a great pick into University Oasis is Lijang Control Center.

Why would she need that when she can just 2 tap you?

*If you’ve received 0 healing in a full second.

Great!!! But they just nerfed the pylon… So now it is easier to kill and does less heals…

So if the game is where it should have been before this patch… Then blizz made mistake… Nothing new there…

Afaik, it’s always been like that. It was only locked when being damaged. You could reposition as soon as the enemy team pushed and put it behind another object.

Yup… Everyone is going to stand perfectly still so she can two tap them… Not all of us play in the OWL…

I understand it getting nerfed… but hearing that the devs DID NOT expect it to be used in places where it’s hard to reach for the enemy is… a little worrying

The first several seconds even show you are free to use the pylon as its healing and not being locked out. While its being shot, its being locked out after its cooldown is done, which you see at the end.

I mean it’s much easier than Kiriko and is hitscan

Then at some point they changed it… It used to annoy me that I couldn’t move it while it was healing?? I would often want to reposition it to a safer place but couldn’t cause it was healing someone…
