this is a joke. up close they kill almost the same time cassidy a bit faster. once damage fall off begins it is a tragedy. Illari is a much better dps than the actual dps. she can kill the rein and do a full emote before cassidy gets his kill. what has this game become?!?

You can argue that his far falloff range is nuts, like it’s at Roadhog hook range lmao, but the close ranged damage is no contest. If they actually showed that he’d blow Illari out of the water
Also Rein won’t be AFK in game so he’ll just put his 1600hp barrier up and take 0 damage from either hero
I’m not defending it but a better comparison would be to compare her with Ashe. Cass isn’t meant to have good damage falloff because people cry about it too hard when he does
well support isn’t considered the easiest most hand-holdy role in the game for no reason. it’s basically a participation trophy for no thumb dps rejects that constantly cry about other roles in the game on forums no matter how overtuned (or at times broken) the role is.

Illari is built for sustained damage over time. Cassidy is built for burst-damage.

It’s just a fact that most every Damage-role tends to engage in more risk than other roles. Supports tend to have longer effective ranges or no falloff on their weapons (just about every Support is projectile-based); and they have larger projectiles than the Damage-role, normally.
None of this should be new information. This is year one Overwatch basic fundamentals.

Ashe would eventually lose out agaisnt Illari’s 14 ammo vs. her 12, plus reload rates.
Long understood that Zenyatta’s burst-damage is stronger than Hanzo’s headshots; but Hanzo also has Dragonstrike.
What’s riskier? Deadeye or Captive Sun?
You can run this same experiment with a Tank and reach the same results.
Honestly they should update Cass. Give him another ability or something fitting but equivalent to wallclimb or double jump. Not saying give him those specifically but some extra utility. He’s just gun guy character. Give him something neat.

The headshot reduction on Tanks doesn’t further reduce 1.5x headshot multiplier heroes,Illari is one of them.
Cassidy’s kill time was heavily slowed by the reloading due to his small clip size, while in real practice, the burst damage from one clip is more important. Also, ignoring cassidy can quick reload with roll.
Pick that specific range that Illari doesn’t have falloff while Cassidy does.
Wondering why it’s tested on a tank instead of squish? Because Cassidy’s ttk on a 250 health hero is less than half of Illari’s, it wouldn’t fit their narrative. Range is probably the only thing Cassidy players can complain about. But that’s a different topic, let’s stop pretending his raw dps is bad.
If Cassidy’s primary is really that bad, what about switching Cassidy’s primary to Illari’s? I guess they would immediately cry about the TTK becomes too long.
