Look at this Brig skin fiasco. It is but a mere peek into the monetization that is about to unfold. You should listen to the alarmists when they see a fire. It will all be ashes before some of you see it.
maybe people will get to their senses when they will have to cough money to get anything.
The best part is that you and I don’t actually have to do anything but sit back with popcorn. We did our part.
Not our fault nobody listens
They expected people on the forums to dislike it. They were right, but that doesn’t make it a fiasco. If they decided to go with it regardless of their expected forum response it’s because they expect good feedback from other places. The main complaint currently is that they can’t make it so everyone streaming OW can participate and they already said why.
It’s just a paid skin. The only difference is you aren’t paying Blizzard directly for it.
Is it overpriced? Yes.
Is the skin Meh in my opinion? Yes.
Is it something really terrible for the game and community as a whole? Nope.
If you don’t want the skin, don’t buy it. Simple as that.
No, it was because the $$$ was worth the backlash. Get with it.
We are paying for their marketing.
Very few people are complaining about the price from what I have seen elsewhere.
Then you live in a bubble, my dude. Twitter and Reddit are battlefields right now,
I use both, maybe you just have a severe case of selective reading.
I was thinking the same thing for you, interesting.
Where else does marketing money come from other than sales and sponsors?
yup, but we are still going to suffer like everyone else because of the state of the game
Were are still in test phase for the game.
As if testing what they can do to make/save money and what will not work, so expect nothing good at near future just more reasons to be worried about “what they come up next with”.
Then after all the hate if its to much they “kindly” go back to what was hated, change it a little to get praised for listening to people, and end up as it was planned from the start.
Nothing new in gaming world to be fair, just like picking streamers that dont play game, usually game events like that streamers picked are high number follower accounts, that are ready to download game just for the sake of event then dont touch it again, its just like a lot of partner programs with cc.
This is what you aren’t getting. We are still paying for this game. I just wanted that payment upfront. You will actually be spending more on this game than in OW1. Nobody listens.
I know its crazy, but why not use the old model of games where you release a good product, sell the product, make money, make expansions, make money. Make Sequels, make money.
This is how gaming has literally always worked. Now we are discussing preorder pricing tiers and third party streaming website participation. Like wtf?
If you are basing your entire view because this brig skin, there is nothing they could do to please you
You are the one seeing everything as a doomer
When thousands of hardcore veteran players, who have been playing the game through all the content droughts and horrible meta’s because of how great the game still is, are abandoning the game in flocks: You know that it’s horrible what they’re doing
Papa Jeff was right leaving this Titanic project
Things like this are to be expected. They changed the monetization model so that obtaining everything is only possible if you are willing to spend a lot of money. It’s not like OW1 where it’s possible to obtain 99% of cosmetics via gameplay alone.
Not the best consumer model, but better than many others. As long as this model stays cosmetics only, I don’t think the larger public will care. If it starts affecting gameplay, I think you’ll see more widespread complaints.
I’m basing my views off the slew of bad info that has trickled out. this just reinforces that I was correct.
We have battle passes, paid preorder bonuses, paid third party streaming participation, seasonal PVE.
It’s not one thing.
We keep being right, and I wish we weren’t.
These 2 are far from new things
And for crying out loud, ow1 had a preorder bonus
and sorry to say it, but battle passes are the new era of gaming
*which you dont have to do if you dont want
This one im not sure, they werent clear when they talking about it and I would like some clarification on it
Dude they just announced a Pac-Man World remake
