Queue tank, and pick one yourself
If you queue as DPS or Support your allowing other people to decide which tanks will be played
You made your choice and now they made theirs
Also people that can use cover don’t ask for shields. Be smart, people.

You have to have a shield tank. But you also can’t have that incomperent sniper. But you also can’t have that Ana that can’t position. Can’t win any way it’s carved. Can’t replace everyone.

That’s fine, but those tanks shouldn’t complain about low DPS or heals if the enemy runs double sniper, and those tanks aren’t good enough to shut that down without barrier use.

Should you pick a shield tank though because you’re on an odd day, minstrels shall sing your tale forever and monuments and parks will be built in your honor. Thank you for picking a shield it’s such a noble sacrifice not like it helps you win the game too it’s a purely selfless act.

The same goes for everyone, if you queue as tank, don’t complain about the Zen and Brig healers or the Bastion and Junkrat dps.

Not necessarily true. If you have a few people on your team not using cover but you are, it would be great to have a shield for those getting popped. Now you don’t have too, but if your teammates are getting picked by snipers and incoming damage can’t be blocked then you probably should shield especially if you know it would help.

Goes for all the roles. ^^ if you want hitscan to take care of the pharah :you should’ve gone dps yourself or if you wanted a pocket mercy.
Amen! Don’t complain until they nerf 2/3 of the shield tanks into the dirt and then expect me to play the only one left standing.

I don’t get it.
A lot of my DPS loves to just crouch spam, adadada, and jump side ways, in the middle of the open, infront of the enemy POV, and just shoot thinking it’ll be most effective.
Sooooo, you’re saying that even though you queue tank, you queue with the intention of picking any other tank that doesn’t have a shield?
Doesn’t that just make you worse than the people who are asking you to just swap to a shield to actually help the team?
You queued tank. Shielding is a fundamental part of overwatch whether you like it or not. You queued for tank. You have to be prepared to play a shield tank if need be.
You have a much smaller hero pool within the tank role, making it easier for you to flex than on a role like DPS, which has so many different options.

depends on your team line up, but tank players should have a barrier tank they are comfortable on just incase.
it is a small hero pool but it’s very diverse and they play very differently from one another.
the only thing that makes them more easy to flex in is that they aren’t as bound by mechanical skill to reach that basic level of play with the characters.
but people in general want to be free to pick whatever they want so it becomes an issue of having freedom and feeling like you’re making an independent choice.

Why don’t you just play for the team? You do know shield tanks absorb damage for them right? When you queue for competitive you should be playing for your team, no matter if it’s what you want to play. I feel like people forget the meaning of competitive and teamwork: doing whatever it takes to win and working with others.
Welp…it’s just a matter of time before all of the non shield Tanks are reworked into Damage.
