After seeing Kiriko couldn’t exceed 500 cumulative damage for 9 minutes, I asked him to do more damage to the enemy. I didn’t use profanity(ex: F-Word, A-hole etc.), I didn’t criticize from the beginning, and I politely asked for it. So what he said is, “If I do damage, you guys will die.”
So, once again, in a polite tone, I explained the basis for my opinion. “The quicker you fill the gauge with damage, the more you can use Kitsune Rush. That’s how you contribute as a Kiriko.” And… he said same s**t again.(“If I do damage, you guys will die.”). I calmly held back my anger right before erupting and said, “If you don’t want your teammates to die, play another hero. Like Ana or Lucio.” Then his attitude was like this.
“Whatever.”
After match, I asked my Grandmaster(Best score ever: Asia Top 6) buddy about Kiriko: “There’s no point in playing Kiriko if someone doesn’t deal damage to the enemy, right?” And he said: “Yes. Her basic healing ability is not solid, so you have to contribute by doing damage and filling the ult gauge quickly.”
It’s true that a support’s main job is not to let the team die, but it’s also the support’s job to at least assist aggressively so that the opposing team dies before the team dies. So please, if you not gonna deal any damage to enemy team as a Kiriko, don’t pick Kiriko.
You must have been awful if he was that persistent about being forced to heal bot… But your GM asian buddy is insane if he thinks Kiriko is picked for damage.
Sure, 500 damage in 9 minutes is abhorrent. He was not great. But she is not picked for building her ultimate via knives… Like, wut? She builds ultimate faster with her paper trails, homie.
With how quickly some players get damaged all Kiriko can do is heal and juggle them all leaving little room to DPS, we all seen that lobby where they seem to forget what cover is or think you can out heal 1v5 damage or point blank range from bastion in turret mode
Oh how I wish he would just start dpsing just to prove a point, so he could taste everyone’s tears after.
You asked your GM friend, but what rank are you playing in?
Why does that matter? It would seem to contradict your opinion in the other thread. A top 500 knows best regardless of rank, surely. Weird that you all of a sudden flip flop.
Because you can’t expect a top500 play from a gold lobby? I didn’t say that his friend was wrong about kiriko needing to also dps and not just healbot. No need to be triggered just because I think that someone who is top500 might have some knoweledge about the game.
Interesting. I thought you were going to use the argument that they are likely lying about their friend being top 500 to justify the response. You surprised me.
But yes, I agree with this rendition of your take.
6 years playing the same supports over and over and now that we got a new one you are asking that dude to swap. listen, kiriko players with that awful fire rate weapon are better just tossing those flying tickets around.
Btw, even Fielder from Overwatch League emphasized a more utility/ healbot approach for Kiriko as it fills her ult charge faster. Obviously have windows to damage and kill, but keeping squishies topped off and healing gets your ult very fast.
You don’t pick kiriko for damage. You pick her for sustain and her ult. Even if they damaged, their literal damage Stat will still appear low despite them getting elims.
Kiriko overall needs a well rounded/ balanced play style to succeed. Damage bots get punished and so do healbots.
Check out Fielders POV and other top supports. I’m talking ML7, KarQ, Sleepy. They emphasize the sustain part in all their plays. Your kiriko should damage more- but if they deemed it a bad call, that is on you and your team for not being able to use natural cover, mitigate damage, pick wise fights, etc.
A lot. You cannot expect a grandmaster’s lobby to have the same window of opportunity as a silver’s.
A silver Kiriko will end up using the heal button — not because she wants, but because where she is — more than the damage due to the nature of the low rank — lack of team coordination, and environmental awareness — that leads to people receiving a lot of avoidable damage.
I was being sarcastic. They called me delusional in another thread because they hate Hog, so I felt like poking fun at the discrepancy in their opinion. I absolutely agree with you. I am not THAT crazy, lol.
I think a lot of Kiriko players don’t realize that you can throw in a kunai or two basically for free, so even when you feel compelled to stay healing (because of high enemy damage or whatever) you can still pump out a bit of damage.
I just pointed out that you labeled people who “hate” hog as bad players, and when you were provided example of good players who think so, you were dismissive of them.
I don’t even hate hog, I just think he needs to be balanced since right now he seems too strong. It just feels like he is low risk high reward.
Edit: Hog so op he’s taking over this topic as well.
Even if he wanted to do damage, in metal ranks if Kiriko does not spam healing her team will typically die. There’s time for 2 shots between healing and if you’ve got to focus heals to avoid your team exploding you won’t have the opportunity to do much but spam a couple kunai into whatever your tank is fighting.
Your buddies opinion on how to play a hero in grandmaster has naught to do with play in gold. If he was in gold trying to carry he wouldn’t be able to make plays in the same way as he does in GM (I’m not saying he couldn’t carry a gold game, I am saying he probably wouldn’t do it by doing damage while he watches his tank explode)
