First of all i got the data from this video: Overwatch: Sym Reworked to HEALER!? - Genji Deflect BUFFED! - YouTube

where jeff got interviewed he said that their looking at two ways of making symmetra, either making her heal and keep her in the support slot or giving her more “damage viability” and moving her to a defense hero

Please, Do not make symmetra a healer, She is not a healer, she doesnt diserve te be one, She is a non healing support builder, and id rather her to become more damagy than be a healer, we have enough healers for now…

if she is turned into a healer i swear to god i will still use her and heal people as i should

but i wont be happy about it :frowning:

Perhaps we can split her in two like Genji and Hanzo. Basically make her a DPS and than later add a Vishkar healer (Or the other way around).

As Jeff mentioned 2/2/2 is standard. Se we can never have enough healer and tanks, because we have the 50%/25%/25% split.

I’m okay with it as long as she doesn’t get healing turrets.

Healing turrets would honestly be to OP, yeah they can get destroyed, but all you have to do is set them around the map and hall teammates like that

we actually need more healers and tanks, considering defense and offense both are comprised of damage oriented heroes, they overpopulate the game at a 2:1 when compared to the rest of the classes, moving sym to defense is only logical but will further increase the amount of damage oriented heroes, giving her a heal however will keep her on support and mantain the number at a reasonable place

OW community is obsessed with categories. All supports = xyz, ect. ect. I haven’t played a game yet where the “roles” were so defined, or people cared about them so much (except for WoW, no surprise). I think it’s mostly Blizzard’s fault for projecting their ideas on the players too strongly, rather than allowing the community room to innovate and experiment.

Can we just have a “hero” without worrying so much about categorizing them endlessly.

I don’t really care what they do with her, so long as she stays a builder. I love the concept of an architect hero. So much potential.

I mean, can you imagine 12 Symmetras in a custom game projecting walls, floors, and ramps to make a massive fortress in the middle of the map?

I have a lot of hope for Symmetra. Any way to make her more viable just gives me a chance to play her more often. And I’m very happy for that.

If she could function as a support without healing that would be cool but I just don’t see that happening. Past that, defense heroes are inherently broken (doesn’t mean that I don’t like them but they are a role that doesn’t work in this game), so Symmetra as a defense hero has me worried. Regardless, there are too many dps heroes already and not enough supports.

They expanded upon that to quell the fear, they’re investigating multiple paths and finding which one makes a better hero.

No, they said they “started” looking at those two directions, past tense. Not that they’re currently deciding between the two. I think it’s pretty clear they chose already and are just expliaining what ther process was.

Honestly my issue with them moving her to Defense is the fact that upping her damage viability is going to turn her into a nightmare for people that don’t already know how to deal with her. Maybe even one for people that do know how to deal with her.

That being said, I’d rather her be horribly annoying and broken than ever be a healer, so. Let’s make Sym the new Junkrat.
