Would you choose Classic or modern Overwatch 2?
Is it a tough question or super easy?
It is an extremely tough question. I suppose logistically the modern Overwatch with updates is objectively better. That being said, this nostalgia is unreal. I love it and I am so happy that Blizzard finally gave us what we asked for.
It’s super easy. There is a reason that overwatch has changed so much over the years. (hint: it’s not because OWC is the better version)
Between those 2? Modern, no contest.
Now, when you get even just a season or two further into OW1 it gets tougher. Overall, I’d choose OW2 because I don’t want to lose the new heroes and maps but OW1 had various things I miss desperately and hope to see returned in time.
Trying to keep the nostalgia factor in mind… I’d honestly have to say Classic. Even if it means never getting updates ever again. I just want to have the Overwatch I know and love back, complete with Archives, events loaded with a bajillion new skins to earn, and all of the clunk n charm along with it.
I have never played Overwatch at launch since I joined in Dec 2016, so a good six month latter. But OWC is so much more fun then OW2, in those 12 games i could play yesterday i had more fun then i had ever in OW2. So yeah, definitely OWC.
I have been playing more Overwatch than I have since the launch of the original. I was a daily on type of person for most of Overwatch Dos. During season 9, I was trying to unlock Jade for Reaper and played more often, especially to test the huge changes. But other than that… Eh. Daily missions only. If I finished them in one game, I was off. I also take breaks at the end of each season once the BP is finished. That’s usually a three week break.
I was at level 69 of the Battle Pass when this started and we are already nearly 95.
This is one of the coolest events I have ever participated in. I am going to play it as long as it is up.
How about neither? Neither, yep.
Ow2. Unless 2/2/2.
20
OW classic (66 Open Queue) for sure
I missed when I can swap role and pin-point counter the enemies’ carry
Classic.
Fun is what important.
Classic OW is chaotic, but fun.
OW2 is boring.
Original OW, no doubt. No role queue, stack picks, just fun times.
OW"1" with the famous 2020 balance patch. They basically made the game perfect. All heroes were playable on all ranks.
Depends!
Relies much on how Classic will work in the upcoming patches, Classic needs to eventually be a mode where you don’t know patch you’re queuing for, just roll the dice and that would be peak Overwatch to me. I’m a huge fan of 1.0 OW1 with hero stacking and its silly nature, and Im looking forward to how it will work in this event alone
But if there are technical limitations or not the intention of the mode, then OW2 all day.
Classic easily.
ow classic.ow classic had such great potential, if it got different changes than the ones in our timeline it could be an amazing game. ow2 is dog water in comparisson to ow classic and so many bad balance decisions have been made that its dificult to make something actually balanced from it
i choose pre kiriko overwtach
well if we consider how each has evolved over time id go classic. classic can become peak i dont think ow2 5v5 can become peak.
Overwatch 2 by a mile
Easy. Classic. Not even a contest.
I am better at Ow2. Because it is simpler, and requires frankly little skill. Top500 lobbies in OW2 are… Fast, but not exactly beyond me. I have played in them and well. It’s not a ‘different game’. It’s the exact same game, but faster.
But launch overwatch, even when played at a high level? That thing is dynamic, and changes so much in the same rank, with the same 12 characters. That extra two adds so much variance, and ability for you to forge a unique playing style off of your teammates, and your teamplay gets to be even more pronounced.
It doesn’t simplify down like 5v5 does.
Funny that. 5v5 with what, double the original roster, is more simplified than Overwatch Classic.
Ow2 requires me to play in a group of at least 3, so that I can avoid some terrible characters being played that are so, so boring, and antithetical to the original Overwatch. OW1 requires no such allowance.
I am having so much fun playing Classic. And I can promise you, while I’ve been solo queueing classic, I won’t solo queue 5v5 again.
There’s a reason people have argued against Overwatch 2’s 5v5 for so long. (Hint: It’s not because 5v5 is the better format).
Exactly.
