tired of genji mains getting genji autolocked from them and not being able to play anything else
Id take a minimum of one at this point, tired of seeing Tracer one tricks everywhere.
Not everybody is suited to playing every type of hero. I, for instance, am horrible at Tanks, no matter which one it is. I’m a sub-par offense player, and the only defense I’m any good at is Hanzo and Junkrat, but I’d never take those into Comp with my poor skills.
Support is more my game. But even if I can play every Support, you want me barred from Competitive? lol okay
So in order for a complete competitive mode, you’d force players to play roles they don’t even want to play to be able to climb the ranks. It’s really not feasible even though the original idea of Overwatch was the same kind of idea. Do you understand how much hours they’d have to put into the game to be “competent” in the competitive environment.
Blizzard knows this and hopefully in the coming seasons they’ll realize they need to fix the garbage matchmaking they created.
Couldn’t that be fixed with some simple communication? Unless the autolocker is a one trick too, I don’t see why not.
Honestly, I’d rather have a one trick playing well above the curve on a high-impact hero than a jack-of-all-trades playing below average on everything.
Yes, I’m referring to your performance.
At this point it’s either reply to his thread title, or reply to the threads message. Can OP please ask us what he wants from us?
being a filler isnt a good thing, that means you dont excel at any character but can play many others at a sub par level only being able to maintain your rank because of your pick vs team or enemy comp
This is pretty illogical thinking.
Suppose you are a “filler” and you play every hero in the game at a plat level and nothing higher. So you maintain plat as your rank and you are never able to go higher.
Now suppose you have an expert DPS player. He can play DPS at a master level but nothing else because he never fills to tank or support. So he would maintain his rank at master or fall if he plays something else.
Either way, the result is the same. In one case you can maintain your rank by playing anything you want. In the other case you maintain your rank but you are limited to playing only certain heroes.
I find that hard to believe, you’re bad at ALL TANKS? Or you just don’t want to play tanks? It’s ok if you don’t want to play certain roles or heroes, but for the sake of a better experience of everyone, don’t play comp if you’re not willing to make compromises.
the whole filling thing is a plat meme, at that level no one knows how to play anything so they resort to learning multiple classes
It’s irrelevant to your argument that filling is bad because you will just maintain your rank. You will maintain your rank regardless one way or the other.
the issue is not that you have to be super good with 2 heros of each role, but you should be able to use them and switch to them if needed.
you can still hold your main hero/role and train that most of the time, but you should be able to switch to tank/support/DPS if the team needs
and if you cant do that then the comp building has one more problem because you have to lock in your given hero…
i have my main DPS and i insta lock it most games, but i dont mind switch to other roles if the team needs… my personal performance will “drop” but i get to train on that hero now… and hopefully the overall performance of the team will increase because now we have a main tank/heal
you need to have a backup that you should be able to play fairly good incase your hero gets picked by someone else or you get hard countered or your team cant perform at all
other wise you will lose more games
Role*
And so long as you can play just 1 hero in each role, that’s good enough in my opinion.
No thanks!
I’ll do what I want as long as it’s in the rules
I never liked the idea flex players, id much rather have someone consistent and skilled at one hero than someone meh at all of them atleast until 3300s.
what if you get 3 or 4 that are really really good at the same hero and cant play any other hero… would you still rather have them? that game is most likely lost
This would be really good for the competitive experience if things stay as they are. I would absolutely love one tricks if a match maker would simply take them into account.
I keep hearing papa Jeff talk about the “spirit of the game” and talking about being hyper worried of queue time creep for DPS players if some kind of role queue were put into place but id much rather have a 3-6 min queue time then get an insta queue and have pretty much a 50/50 chance of getting a quality game.
Every one knows that most of the time the win or lose is decided on the hero select screen and that i think its the most broken thing about this game
Yes for the same role, comp is not a deciding factor that trumps skill at lower ELO, If they all play the same hero thats just bad luck and is really unlikely considering the diversity of heroes played within the ranks being so even.
Flexing =/= meh on all heroes
For me, I have 3 characters from each role I am proficient on (as in play at above my rank-Oversumo verified) and those are Pharah occasionally Rein and Zen. The rest of my hero pool either plugs gaps:
Hitscan-Mccree
Dive-Genji and Winston
Main support- Moira
Or heroes I enjoy playing:
Ana (she feels OP even to play even though I know she’s UP and sleep/anti nade is satisfying af)
Or my “matchmaking” pick:
Hog-he can get key pickoffs, is survivable, and has little team reliance.
Now on the top 3 I play a Gold level average, but for the others I play above Silver average (60-80% performance). Flexible players aren’t average for all heroes, they’re just not hugely strong on any one; rather they’re above average on like 6-9.
You need to understand that Blizzard could easily make the game enforce this, but they’ve decided not to. It’s not some new idea they haven’t thought. No. They know this and have truly decided not to.
So, what you’re saying won’t have any effect. People will still play competitive, because Blizzard is allowing them to.
