If you can say “I need healing” you can say “thanks”

Title.

I said what I said, if you want healing I’m willing to heal, after all that’s my job, however it would be great to get a thanks once and a while.

What do tanks get?
“Amazing shatter!” “Nice grav!”

What do DPS get?
“Nice triple kill!” “Nice ult!”

What do supports get?
“Our healers are garbage.” “Why would you revive me?”

There’s a reason we don’t won’t to play support, maybe treat support players better.

I like when my team says “did our Lucio just solo beat on their Lucio’s body?”

i definitely appreciate the thank you but its pretty rare that i dont actually notice my teammates health since i rely very heavily on sound cues and theres hurt voicelines and grunts in the game when your team takes dmg the only real problem i have is when people spam i need healing when ive already actually healed them to full, im aware you were low health, ive already dealt with it, please stop

They added in auto-thank you voicelines for some of these reasons.

I also spam Thanks like a dirty Canadian, esp if I get healing when I really need it.

I have literally never seen someone in chat say "Amazing Shatter! “Nice grav!”

What I have seen is every role get called “garbage”. “Our DpS sucks. Our tank is feeding. Our Healers are throwing”.

Only time people are nice (not joking, just nice. Chill joking happens all the time in text chat) is in voice chat, and this applies to all roles as well. I have been called an amazing Mercy by a random Pharah in VC, and told I saved the game in VC while on Mei.

In the eyes of a flex player, it looks like you might be having some bias in perspective.

Or may be a bit narcissistic in thinking that you deserve thanks for voluntarily playing your role on a video game. Is support in overwatch akin to charity work now?

it happens more in voice chat honestly for that kind of stuff, its too long to type during the game, the most ive seen is “ns” occasionally in text chat, at the end of the day everyone is more likely to flame everyone else though, its not exclusive to healer in the slightest but ive definitely received more flame as a healer even when im doing well than when im doing suboptimal on a dps, some people just really expect healers to heal oneshots, even with the heroes with invulnerability it requires some full foresight to know that person is actually going to dive headlong into that widows line of sight when she can actually aim, they just fully expect us to predict what theyre going to do and exactly when theyre planning to do it

My experience has kinda been different where I had like people, stopping in the middle of an intense teamfight, just to thank me for restoring 25% of their health.

And I’m like “Ah, that’s nice but I think we need you to focus on the fight…”

Not complaining but it is pretty cool. In fact, I’m pretty sure I get endorsements solely for picking support.

This drives me nuts too. It causes me to turn to a direction i dont need to turn and possibly move me out of a position i shouldve been in. Them calling for heals when they dont need can cause a teammate to not get the heals they actually need in time… or gets me shot in the back of the head.

As soon as people spam anything i squelch chat now.

Im heavily vision impaired and rely on sound queues way more than most. Spamming anything is a prob.

Plus ow2 has sound queues that seem to step on each other and as a result ive missed enemy ult queues. Not often but it def happens… people have have luck with changing sound settings to night mode i guess— but to me that sounds like im in a fishbowl.

Theres no reason to complicate this bug with added uneeded spamming.

exactly like i turn to check on their health because im not perfect and i may have missed them taking dmg when in fact theyre perfectly fine and i have now been distracted from people that actually are in trouble, their reaction to them taking dmg is slower then my own and they dont even look at their health by the time they get around to asking for healing, they just knew they were low at some point… its honestly annoying

I get a lot of thanks in game as well. Even as a lucio main when people dont always know ur healing them as often. Endorsment lvl 4 and lookin toward that 5.

I kind of thought this when i first read the post… like- i dont need thanks for doing my job. Its a lil weird to ask for to be thank for doing what you came to do…

But it still really nice to hear and it reinforces them healing you… so why not jus say thanks?

except I main dps. So what am I bias about? I have over 200 hours on Symmetra

When did you put those hours in, because she used to be support? Functionally she still kinda is anyways so the bias of only paying attention towards support toxicity could still be there…

This is exactly why i dont bother with txt chat. Nothing productive is ever said.

Its also weird to me that people opt to stop and type in the middle of a game… that sucked to do in quake 1 in the 90s when VC ddnt exist in game…and it still does.

I love to see a enemy standing still or walkin into a wall while they type. Thanks for the pick.

but people stop and text while walking or driving in traffic in real life. So how can i expect them to refrain from doing it in game?

Im just not reading it- im looking at my crosshairs and teams health bars and the objective.

VC has toxicity too— but it also has positive people. So ill take the good with the bad. Then mute the bad.

I agree it’s nice when others praise you for doing your job. lol

I get it pretty often. When I don’t get it, every now and then it’ll cross my mind, but it’s fleeting and I almost instantly forget that either I was thanked or not.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. I get the most thanks when playing support.

I am someone who always says thanks. But sometimes I’m just not in a situation where I can stop for 1/2 a second to use the comm wheel.

Do they really? It is like 1 of 99 matches anyone bothers to say something like that.

Thats why their is an automated voice line when people get healed or res.

“Thanks doc!”

I honestly could care less about a voice line or some text that says “Thanks”

It just wastes time when they should be engaging the enemy.

You need some kind of adulation because you play healer?

Pick another class maybe.

In all honesty, i get a lot of praise when i play support. “Awesome heals”, “Our mercy is on crack”, “insane sleeps”, “holy s**t that cleanse”.

2 of em just now. Maybe it is on you buddy. If you have outstanding performance teammates will notice. If you don’t… well… then you won’t get praised.

Why would you expect to be praised for “just doing your job”? You will only be noticed when you do more than that!
