Any time I see a post like this I think of the many, many times that I had to listen to a teammate cry all game about “Widowmaker/Tracer/[insert hero here] switch, you’re getting no kills, you’re garbage” only for us to win, that player gets PotG and a card for most kills.

These two things aren’t really related. It’s very easy to rack up eliminations while still contributing stuff all to the team. It’s easy to contribute loads to the team while getting stuff all elims.

The dps player are not the only one who supposed to get the kills. When I’m playing on Zarya, Roadhog, Zen, Rein, DVA etc, I’m also get extra aggressive to get the opening pick to make room for everyone else.
It’s also not uncommon for me to get all the golds (excepted healing) as secondary tanks.
Why kills? I had hanamura games where it wa virtualy impossible to get kills because we didnt have main tank and our tanks never pushed or were melted instantly in attack phase.
yeah no. There are dozens of games where the tanks are dead every second and the enemy play safe behind the choke and it’s impossible to get kills unless you run sombra/tracer and pull off a 1v3 or play junkrat (honestly this is one of the better options for down in the elos where the tanks are idiots)…
snipers probably won’t work if they run shields and your tanks are dead constantly/too dumb to hold W.
best option is shield break of some kind in the hope that it pushes back the enemy tank line and that your support keeps your tanks alive longer.
But if your tank is so bad that they died 3 times in 1min, do you really think swapping to soldier or junk is going to save the game. In low ranks the dps just choose to accept the loss when the tank player is too bad. Blame the lack of a role queue and maintain a 60%+ win rate and climb while giving up on that game.
0 kill games are always the tanks fault. 100% of the time. I’m sorry but no matter how good the enemy dps are, if the tank is somewhat passable someone will get a kill somewhere.
if the tank has pressure there will be a way through the choke, and if you actually get to team fight properly there will be idiots on the other team to match the idiots on your own. These 0 kill games where they’re sitting at a choke forever are always the tanks’ fault
You’ve got way to obtuse of a view on this if you think someone not getting kills isn’t contributing.
It’s very possible to contribute alot while not getting a single kill.
