If you admit to smurfing it should be an instant ban

I don’t understand how so many people get away with hard smurfing in this game. You have content creators left and right just openly smurfing with new account after new account 1 tricking a hero from unranked to GM, then you have 5 stacks of top 500 players alt roleing in Plat and Diamond openly talking about it providing links to their mains and are just all around blatantly compromising the limited amounts of competitive integrity that remain in this game.

Why is such behavior tolerated at all? Every series on Dafrans youtube is 1 trick X character to GM, how has nothing been done about this why does Blizzard constantly just not care about stuff like this? I get that its only going to impact a handful of games all things considered but if there is legitimate proof that these things are happening surely they should be taking action and just start banning these players…

I’m really excited for the future of competitve overwatch especially with the new ranked changes announced at con. I just hope that Blizzard will do better about this particular issue in the very near future.

Understand these poor abused content creators don’t want to play in Yznsa’s minmaxed matches, so instead they go beat up on noobs for free money from other noobs. Feel their pain!

Yes. But most people who say they are “smurfing” are just on alt accounts.

If you admit to actual smurfing. Smash them into the ground.

define smurfing.
is it just playing in a lower rank? if so then anyone coming from apex o cs or something is instantly smurfing becuse golds genuinly cannot aim.

smurfing requires the act of throwing. you need to start high and then become low.
simply playing the game in a rank the game thinks you belong in is just that. you cant ban someone for being better.

you have to catch them on the way down.

Absolutely spot on this ^

Just throwing it out there, used to be a trash bronze (trash diamond now).

When something in a rank clicks and you start to rank up rapidly, it will 100% feel like your smurfing even though it’s 100% not what you are doing.

Question whats smuring because i have a second account i play on thats lower rank because i only play the new supports on it to learn them before adding them to my main account rotation

I smurf most of your games. Like almost 90% of my games I wreck your ELO because I can, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it… enjoy?

That isn’t smurfing. You’re fine.

Alts shouldn’t be allowed in comp. Period.

That made for a good laugh! You have to understand this game isn’t competitive and probably never will be. Moreso since it’s farmed by content creators and riddled with cheaters and smurfs. Just make alts and play like you don’t care, only for fun. Do challenges like one ability only. Try it!

Side note: There will be all sorts of people telling you that smurfing doesn’t matter, that alt and smurf is not the same thing, etc., whatever. But it is allowed by Blizzard, it’s in the terms and conditions, and it is exploited widely. No reason to care about rank when it’s not even visible, just play for the challenge.

True. If you want a competitive environment. Make a team, get some scrims, enter some tournaments.

Ranked is more about trying to beat your peers. It isn’t “competitive” it is about egos.

Smurf accounts and alt accounts are very much different. Alt accounts are fine, smurfs are 100% bannable, if you report them for the correct things.

Smurfing doesn’t really hurt the playerbase in any meaningful way so the devs don’t care. Smurfs objectively make them more money; they aren’t going anywhere.

It’s too much of a grey area.
Is a pro CSGO player bannable because they’re stomping pisslow?

If they have one overwatch account that they signed up for legitimately and let the rank collaboration do it’s thing and they perform well while they are earning the ability to play comp then everything should be good. Just having good mechanics and being good at the game isn’t a problem.
