Its really just high value, easy to use for the crutch. Low skill floor if you will.
A lot of low tier value from Genji doesn’t come from necessarily getting kills. It comes from staying alive, being distracting enough to cause people to divert attention away from the team, then being able to capitalize upon low HP kills to finish off targets your team can’t finish. Swift strike + melee is the easiest finisher in the game. Alt fire spam is sufficient poke at mid range and horribly lethal at close range. You don’t have to aim much at all. A monkey could use blade as its success is all in the set-up and virtually little execution error. While Sojourn ult can be 100% execution error missing all the shots.
Mei isn’t trying to 1v1 a tank. You are looking to wall off a tank that pushed a little to far forward. Cut off healing/dps from behind and suddenly your entire team sees 1 tank with no LoS to stuff in back and collapse upon the tank that is effectively bionaded for up to several seconds. When you do get close to 200hp heroes you don’t need to aim much. It’s more a waiting game, but man are there enough tanks without mobility who press W too much trying to kill something. When tank is dead you effectively win the team fight. Its more a behave flaw you are abusing.
Swapping between easy to use DPS heroes in my opinion is one of the greatest and easiest methods DPS can use. The only thing difficult about I suppose is needing to understand how OW works well enough to abuse.
Quake Champions - 300 people and I read in comments that you sometimes not even find enough players
Doom Eternals Battlemode - Sounds like many Doom player disliked that mode (compared with a normal arena modes) and it sounds like nobody really plays it anymore if you check the forums
At this point I’m starting to think that a lot of support mains wont be happy until they’re totally uncontestable by dps and/or can only die if their tank somehow manages to die first.
Wait did you actually had any doubts?
This was something that even in OW1 was the underlying tone of every Support complain. Now its even more blatent with Scoreboards that some Support players are ultra passive and were never playing an FPS to begin with … which makes their complaints even weirder.
Even the complains about “getting farmed” during beta were fake, debunked by Devs, that proved they were dying only 8-15% more beyond high Diamond ( 99% of the complainers were not even that rank )
Maybe the game is better off with mobility. Don’t really want to return to a brawling style Overwatch. This game was always meant to be a shooter before it was a moba and mobility in shooters is a lot of fun to play.
Supports are free kills because this game is designed against them. Ana is the ONLY support that can stop an enemy diving in on them. The rest have to either run away or die. And ana’s sleep is on a 15s CD so if she used it already or missed then she’s screwed.
You could say exactly the same about dps mains. At this point i’m starting to think that a lot of dps mains wont be happy until tanks and support presence on battlefield is purely cosmetic. See? Hollow statements that bring nothing into discussion.
You can’t change their minds, they don’t see that supports clearly have the best utility in the game, they just want to play on autopilot and keep heal botting their teammates to win games
We have a very different definition of what a free kill is.
Kiriko and Bap are better duellists than almost all of the dps roster.
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t dps mains calling for a role wide strike…
Also, while we’re talking about dps isn’t it funny that dps have very similar queue times to supports Despite being the so called most popular role. It’s almost like the role isn’t as appealing as people like to pretend it is and that it’s tanks who are the out of line role.
Except when you really drill down to it a lot of support mains do want to go back to sitting behind 2 tanks and 2 shields while being almost invulnerable to anything except a sniper. Look at the people complaining about Genji in this thread. He isn’t even good but is 1 of the few heroes who can consistently get to backlines without dying instantly.
Supports are ridiculously powerful heroes but their skill floors are so much higher than in OW1 and it does increase very quickly as you climb…I’d argue lot just can’t deal with it not being the autopilot role anymore.
