If we're gonna be stuck with this penalty thing

How about bringing back rewards for doing consecutive matches, like occasional credit drops or something? Cause I’ll tell you right now, even setting aside my own personal gripes about the penalty, the incentives for being a player like Blizz seemingly wants are low when compared to what your asked to tolerate on a daily basis. And no, the ‘pat on the back’ of endorsement levels isn’t a ‘reward’.

There is currently an “endurance” XP bonus for consecutive matches.

I would say that if you don’t have the patience for Overwatch and everything you know logging on will entail (come on people, this game is 7 years old) or if you aren’t enjoying the majority of your matches and feel like you’re tolerating a lot…play something else?

You clearly are doing something you don’t enjoy in your spare time if you’re asking for a reward for sticking at it.

Hey, I ain’t asking for the moon here. Bring back something they ALREADY HAD. That’s it. No offense, I don’t need a lecture on how to spend my time, frankly that’s kinda condescending.

It’s not a lecture or meant as condescending. Sometimes we are unaware that we aren’t enjoying something anymore. We focus on the fun times we had, and almost just lie to ourselves that “I love X thing, because I used to”.

I had that thing with this game. Used to love it, then I found that I was leaving a session irritated or in a worse mood than when I started, and one day saw how I was talking about the game and realised “I’m not having fun anymore”.

I thought perhaps if you’re asking for a reward for the “what you’re asked to tolerate on a daily basis” it sounded like you haven’t realised you aren’t having fun :man_shrugging:

Just don’t play qp. I’ve stopped and never looked back.

No, I’m more asking for it to be brought back for the sake of the game as a whole. The sad reality of the situation is this game takes a LOT out of you mentally even when you win. Having a little extra reward for those who play it ‘properly’ wouldn’t hurt anyone.

Consecutive match bonus is still a thing.
A whopping plus 100 or 200 exp.
The burst of exp you can get from endorsements is just about as good lol

And remember it’s a game, not a job. You should be playing because you want to. Not because the bread crumbs you get are adequate.

I think that’s a great idea.

Why would anyone be against this?

This is coming from a player that still enjoys OW and loves the super sweaty QP matches with high ranked players.

I dont think people are really agaist the idea of getting more rewards, but it does step foot into the area where its people playing for rewards vs playing the game.

I play OW becuase i find it fun, I dont play OW for the rewards.

So asking for rewards is sorta like you want to play for the rewards more then you actaully want to play the game.

If that makes sense

It makes perfect sense to me, but I don’t play for rewards. I play because it’s fun ( I know you aren’t talking about me specifically). However, it would be weird for me to say no to something that would only enhance the time I spend in the game.

There’s no down side to having this implemented in the way the OP has suggested. I mean, sure we could probably nit pick our way into finding something wrong. But that can be done with nearly anything.

Oh i agree, but when people just ask for more and more it is something to be cautious about.

That’s true, but I think the devs can afford to give us a bit more lol. Granted it is just a video game.

Ya, compared to Season 1 we are getting alot more now, i think a bit more and it should mostly be fine.

Its like even in OW1, early on we almost got nothing but overtime they found a nice middle ground of game vs reward.

OW2 still needs to find that middle ground, its better but not there yet

“If we’re gonna be stuck with this penalty thing”

imagine complaining about something that doesn’t affect 80% of the playerbase…just the whiney cry babies that don’t want to sit for 2-3 more minutes in a losing game. and then ASKING TO BE REWARDED to stay in a game. Your entitlement is wild

I see. Yeah I agree in that case.

It’s not really asking for rewards, but changing the way they handled an issue. A company like this should know a basic psychology that you’ll get better results for rewarding god behaviors than punishing bad ones.

Oh, wait… only psychology they care about is how to make you use that credit card.
Edit: REVERSE SUSPENSION PACKAGE COMMING TO THE SHOP SOON!

And your hostile attitude towards something that wouldn’t be an issue is wild. But hey, I guess we both disappointed each other today.

With Blizz being obsessed with negative reinforcement, may as well give us unlimited avoid slots to avoid leavers and underperforming teammates.

I never really thought of it, but it has been proven that positive incentives are almost always better than negative ones. If leavers were such an issue(I never had that problem), lets give people a reason to stay in the games, not a reason to not leave.
