If we get another shotgun user, try taking some inspiration from the M1216

It’s a pretty neat weapon in CoD:BO2 (and in real life), having rapid fire and up to 16-20 rounds per clip/magazine, divided into 4-5 chambers. To get an idea of what it’s like, I’ll link this video, and the Wikipedia article:

Yes, that’s related to mechanics for another game, but it still explains how the M1216 works. Presently, Reaper and Roadhog are the only shotgun users, and they work with a typical brute damage approach. A rapid-fire, low-damage shotgun, however, could be a totally different beast.

I rather have someone wield a SPAS-12 I love that shot gun it would have a lot of damage to almost one shot but long time to shoot each shot

Thank you. Still can’t post non-Youtube links in my opening posts.

Well, the Spas-12 is both semi-auto and pump action. Could have two fire modes.

Yeah, but in Call of Duty (at least in MW2) they tend to keep the SPAS as a pump-action for balance reasons. It’s easily capable of OHKO’s, something I don’t think Blizzard would want (case in point: Roadhog).

Call of duty games, and FPS games in general, don’t give shotguns the realistic treatment. Shotguns in real life are some of MY favorite firearms, they have a variety of ammunition, have a fairly good range dependent on that ammunition, and function extremely well in harsh environments. I’m sad that most games make them out to be useless outside of 10feet away. :frowning:

In BO1 the Spas-12 was a semi auto rifle.

I rather have Ashe Coach gun, that thing is by far the closest to a proper and good shotgun.

I very much prefer a pump action shotgun instead.

Personally I want a crossbow utility hero (shoots smoke/fire bolts as abilities and a few pierce rounds as ult, max 3).

Keep the shotguns and stop adding the “TaNK bUsTEr” title to things and actually fix Goats REEEE

ehh I prefer the AA12 if we’re going full auto, looks less like a tactical tumor.

The problem with pump-action shotguns is that players will expect it to one-shot anyone with 200 HP, even with a shot to the body (rather than the head). As we saw when Roadhog’s primary fire was changed from 4 shots to 5, Blizzard doesn’t like close-range OHKO’s like that.

I love this one but sorry, MK3A1 > all.

The Pancor Jackhammer’s nice (that’s an alternate name for the MK3A1, right?), but the M1216’s more unique with that 4 chamber system.

Agreed, but i think that the look is more important in a video game :stuck_out_tongue: Also there’s the KSG 12 that is pretty awesome imo.

if we get another shotgun - it’s better to be hitscan. God i hate projectile shotguns in this game

They don’t have to make it a OHKO shotgun. Make it an older model shotgun like the Ithaca 37 or Remington 870 to explain away its relative weakness against “modern” Overwatch universe clothing/armor. Then make it slightly more unique by being more accurate and have a longer effective range(due to longer barrel) than the other shotguns in the game to make up for overall less damage.

Example:
They could make each shot to be 12 pellets, 6.25 damage per pellet, totaling 75 damage if all pellets hit. 3 body shots to kill. 150 if all pellets head shot.

Give it a smaller spread angle of 3 (similar to Bastion turret) to 5 degrees. (Reaper has 20 degrees but he does 140 damage at point blank)

Give it a rate of fire between Roadhog and Reaper so maybe 1.75 shots per second?

Damage dropoff starts at 20m, the spread will take care of the damage output so it won’t be taking over the Peacekeeper but will be slightly better at poking than the other shotguns.

Hopefully they manage to fit in slamfire as a mechanic of some form.

DAO-12 is better. He look damn good.

You just got your firearm suggestion rights revoked.
