If there's something Mercy needs

I agree and I think her issues lie mostly with Valkyrie (and are actually easy to fix):

Valkyrie is poorly designed and doesn't fit Mercy's kit

Valkyrie has been meta-defining broken, overpowered, nerfed 15 times and now it even has been buffed a little bit. If that is the only thing you’re doing, you are playing Mercy wrong.

Mercy is in a great position to track ults. Keep your team informed - it can often mean the enemy Zarya won’t get a good spot to grav, for example.

Also, keep tabs on enemy health and shot call.

Always look at the kill feed to make sure you or others don’t waste ults.

Remember to harass the enemy backline with Valk. Getting that Ana is priceless, and so is removing that pesky widow that is on the high ground.

A Sneaky Rez at the end of Valk can be surprisingly effective. Few teams at any rank actually bother to look up to see if Mercy is rezzing or not.

Encourage your team and help keep morale up. Can’t stress how important this is for any player, but supports in particular can congratulate players on good moves, since we get to see what most are doing.

This was just what popped out of my head when I read the post.

Most of those are general tips for game-sense, coordination and communication, not really a Mercy skill but a Overwatch skill, applies to any if not all supports and tanks, thus it’s not really enough to alter the skill gap.

The only one you mentioned that is actually a Mercy skill involved Valkyrie, getting a pick on Ana/Widow, and Valkyrie gives you insane self-heal, free flight, infinite clip and 100% projectile speed, so the skill demanded there is also on the lower side. Too much so I would argue.

It would be nice if Valk gave increased damage rather than infinite ammo that enables spam.
