If role queue fails will blizz revert?

Firstly I think that role queue is going to help the game a lot. I think this what they should have done instead of LFG which was a total dud and I called it right away.

If role queue fails do you think the devolopers will revert it or amend it further?

Blizzard very rarely reverts.

I don’t see how Role Queue could really fail in all honesty, but almost everything can always be improved upon

Let’s say we wind up with massive queue times due to hardly anyone willing to queue up as tank.

Yeah, I’m not sure what a “failure” would look like in effect.

The game will inevitably need a lot of rebalancing over the next few months, but that’s par for the course with a structural change like 2-2-2.

That doesn’t seem to be the case from what I’ve seen on the PTR.

I’d hardly call that a failure either. I’d rather have longer queue times than an unbalanced team

It won’t fail. They will offer bribes, er rather incentives to get folks to fill the low picked role for that moment.

It didn’t fail. It’s in there now

I feel that unworkable queue times or not having the right heroes in every role, we are still short of tanks and supports.

I feel we will need more heroes who blur the roles.

I doubt they’ll revert it if it fails, they’ve spent a long time considering Role Queue and adding it into the game, they said the game has been tracking your role MMR for like a year now, right? Too much time and energy to revert

But I really don’t think there’s anything to worry about with role queue, I see bringing almost exclusively positive changes to OW

Role que won’t fail.

Its not reverts reverts, they call it “small changes” or “buffs” :stuck_out_tongue:

I do wish to point out that they were working on a Role Queue 2-2-2 even before Looking-for-Group came out. Looking-for-Group does it’s job to some extent but was never intended as a solve all problems for Overwatch. Role Queue won’t solve everything either.

Put this in the “never say never” category. Role Queue right now is highly praised upon by the majority of the community and it solves the one key problem with starting a game of Overwatch which is ensuring everyone can play the role they are good at or want to play. Again there is going to be more steps to making Overwatch better to come over time no doubt, but as of right now there definitely appears to be no sign of this failing.

More funniest thing is that role q wont fail.

Even in owl it’s showed to be more succesful.

I don’t think so, in a 2-2-2 set up, no matter what 2 damage characters are chosen, there’s still a proper main/off tank and main/off support composition.
Having more damage than tank/support doesn’t mean that you won’t have the right heroes.

I think some people are building 2-2-2 up to be the catch-all solution for all of our woes.

It’s not and it won’t be.

Right now, you can have games with absolutely no basic structure. 4/5/6 dps comps make the experience something entirely different. You can still win with those comps, but at least IMO it never feels as fun.

With 2-2-2, you might have a sub-optimal pairing like Zarya/Hog instead of Zarya/Rein, but you still have that basic 2-2-2 skeleton providing something.

There’s not though. You can wind up with terrible 222 comps too.

As I said at the start I’m not anti role lock. I am just concerned that we could see people only selecting dps on the selection screen and then we will end up with no one playing any games.

No, they’ll make improvements. They already said several times that they know it won’t be perfect at launch, and will watch it, and make changes as needed. Please don’t forget that.

I’m not saying there are no terrible 2-2-2 comps, I’m just saying it’s not because there’s too many heroes, or more damage than support/tank

If anything, the more heroes we add to tank and support the more potential bad comps there will be, because now you have more opportunity to pick the wrong hero for the job

My selfish DPS nature loves 2-2-2 and is also concerned. I feel as though the queue times for Quickplay as DPS will be much higher but Comp times won’t be. So I will just have to play comp a lot more to avoid queue times.
