Being at mercy of another player is absolute worst feeling of all.
I know the intention of matchmaking is 50-50 but how do you know if a player is going to play a suboptimal hero or a useful hero. How do you know if I’m going to just TRY widow for fun where I have no business playing widow
You cant control for these things. So Matchmaker will always be inaccurate
sadly there is no 50-50 for most people, I’m sitting at a good 72 hours with only 5 wins others are defeats, I jump between 2 ranks like its a jump rope until I finally just keep falling, its how blizzard deems it. I see more tanks needing to be told how to counter than anything, then the ones who just want to throw then cuss the team like a 8y who just watched an R rated movie for the 1st time

That tank who threw? Yeah they did rather well before throwing for the match see to consider them a solid pick for a team mate.
As far as knowing when people are going to get up to shenanigans like that …well you can’t, people are jerks and liable to ruin things at any moment. As a mercy player how do you prevent it
Uhh I only have advice for metal ranks
That is one thing where I can respect Dead by Daylight’s ranking system (Haven’t played for a while, so my info might be outdated) but it used to be something like…
Theres a total 100% pool of potential SR gain/loss.
Ending the game with 0% was a -2 … 25% was -1 … 50% was +0 (and so on)
25% for winning the match
(up to) 25% for performing enough tasks to support your teammates
(up to) 25% for performing enough tasks that interact with the enemy team
and 25% for interacting with the game’s objective.
Even if someone in your lobby is a troll, it really doesn’t matter that much, if you’re a decent player that contributed enough value to the match, you’ve probably broke even at +0
Its easy to argue that would create a lot of stat-padding in overwatch. But really looking at how things are now… If you’re doing 30k damage every game by only shooting at the Mauga, you need to be alive to do it and you need to aim and make the damage hit them. That’s a very RNG concept in many games atm. You don’t really know what you’re walking into with some games now. Is this diamond player a retired esports pro? or is this diamond player going 5-19? They’re the same rank, but very different players.

This would be worth a try in Overwatch.
We have this idea where we expect 5 randoms to work together and try hard each time. Doesn’t work in the real world.
I also feel like paying random heroes which I’m not good at in ranked. WHY should other players have to suffer for my bad decisions???
Tanks are not throwing, your team is throwing for not choosing a comp that supports the tank properly.

If winning and ranking up is so much more important than having fun why not get 4 other like minded players to consistently play with?

You don’t.
You just report and move on. No point wasting time worrying about it.
almost like people shouldn’t worry about winning either

Bit of a stretch. If you want to climb, you should be focused on winning the game.
no point wasting time worrying about it.
That’s not the same as trying.
The trick is to try our best to maximise your chances of winning. But not dwelling on it when you don’t.
Try fix a couple of mistakes and push on.
you’re not going to achieve full min/max without dwelling on your games.
if stuff is out of your control, it’s best to not focus on winning and just focus on fun.
Remember to report that thrower for everything in the report menu first
Why you trying to minmax. Just do your best, and try improve on that next time.
You’re in bronze 5. If you’ve got anything about you, you can win most team fights 1v5.
This needs put into action. Think this would work
Share the code here and let us report that tank, let them get their account sent to the incinerator
