If I was a developer

PLEASE READ WHOLE POST BEFORE COMMENTING, but please comment. I want to know other sides’ arguments for certain heroes, especially Mercy and Briggite.

Mercy:

  • Res is now back to being an ult
  • Added an E ability that ups healing and damage boost by 20% for 4 seconds

Developer comments: Mercy has virtually no downsides/weaknesses when picking her; she has mobility, self healing, a decent ult and very good healing with minimal skill and only some brainpower. With res coming back as an ult, you have to earn res and it is a nerf compared to how OP she is. I think this single change is enough, to brigning her back to being more balanced. Unpopular opinion, but mass res mercy was a little under powered. With this E ability it should keep her balanced. Please give elaborate feedback with this, not just “I disagree”.

Brigitte:

  • Shield health reduced from 600 to 500
  • Shield bash: You now have to have shield up for 0.5 seconds before having to shield bash, cooldown increased from 6 to 7 seconds
  • Fixed bug where she can’t block shatter

Developer comments: Brigitte requires no skill or brains at all, and has a big impact in game. With a lower shield health and higher bash cooldown, there will be some cooldown management required to have as much of an impact. With shield bash needing to have shield up for 0.5 seconds, there is no counterplay to this instant, skilless, longer than usual stun. I understand counter arguments saying that you should just play out of her range, and I aggree that’s an easy counter to her, but I still think she should be nerfed a little because of all of the stats (winrates and pickrates) backing up that she gets way more out than what she puts in (low skill, high reward)

Reinhardt:

  • Is now immune to Doomfist uppercut when having shield up, will still take damage

Developer comments: There is no counterplay for this stun that not only stuns, but puts you in the air for too long making it very easy for the enemy to get to your team while you are stuck in the air. SIDE NOTE; his bugs are already in the process of being fixed

McCree:

  • Combat Roll cooldown decreased from 8 to 6 seconds
  • High Noon: Removed delay between firing and the shot reaching the skull
  • Fixed flashbang hitbox bugs

Developer comments: While McCree should still have mobility as a weakness, this weakness is too detrimental. Also Combat Roll is generally a weak ability, no reason to have it on a high cooldown. I don’t know why there was ever a delay in firing on his ult, he’s a hitscan, there should never be a delay unless you have high ping.

Ana:

  • Now recieves 15 health everytime she hits an ally or enemy
-Fixed bug where her arm looks glitchy when throwing nade

Developer comments: Mercy outclasses Ana in every way while also being easier, this buff isn’t huge but should give her a little more of a fighting chance. Her lack of mobility should stay as a weakness, if Ana had no weaknesses she would be at Mercy level but even more OP.

Sombra:

  • Spread decreased by 10%
  • Speed during stealth now returned to 75%

Developer comments: Sombra should do more damage while at the same time requiring skill to do so. Her spread shouldn’t be decreased by a lot because it’s in her playstyle to be relatively close to someone when trying to kill them. Sombra shouldn’t be able to contest while in stealth because stealth is infinite and she will be able to be a stall hero thats more effective than Mei. SIDE NOTE: Her bugs are already in the process of being fixed.

Bastion:

  • Turret form: Damage very slightly decreased (I don’t know the numbers), but added critical hits back to turret form
  • Configuration: Tank now grants 50 extra armor

Developer comments: Bastion is extremely niche and while I hate playing against him personally, I have to agree that he is too niche to play consistently.

Torbjörn:

  • Turret can now be thrown in a 15 meter radius in all directions. When thrown it starts out as a armor pack looking box and turns into a turret as soon as it hits the ground. The turret instantly levels up to level 2. Level 1 for turrets removed.
  • Can now give armor packs to turrets

Developer comments: Same for bastion, Torb is too niche to play consistently. I don’t think this will make him too powerful, but it should make him more viable.

Mei:

  • Fixed delay bugs with Kyrofreeze and wall

This is all I can think of right now. Please try and keep the feedback civil.

Interesting that Mercy earnable ability. I quite like it but I have no idea would it work? Would it feel like a second ult?

And to others I do not know what to say and think, because I feel I don’t know those well enough.

I’ll read this in a bit later.

Yea it would feel like a second ult; in the box where the res icon was for the res ability was, there would be a progress bar to show how close you are to getting it.

Earnable thing is just another way to make it an ultimate.

It’s also does not correlate to the “skill” that player has, but more like waiting for teammates to get damaged and the second healer letting you heal more.

Healing with Mercy is not the hard part, so correlating the reward to that is pretty bad even for the intention of making is skill based or whatever.

it has atleast counterplay

before a teamfight you will know that mercy had already used rez and she can’t use it again for example, even if you wait a whole minute before fighting

I enjoy all of the changes and believe it would be a positive patch; however, the developer comments are just cringe. Brigitte requires “no skill or brains at all…” Like, fam. C’mon, bruh!

Beyond that, I believe some of these characters need a bit more, such as McCree, and do not want the developers caving to whiny Sombra mains, but whatever. Any positive change is a good change.

A couple of things

if brigite shield blocks earthshatter from hitting targets behind her, so would zarya’s?

Doomfists uppercut doesn’t stun, it silences some movement abilities and that’s it

as a McCree main his combat roll’s cooldown it’s the problem, it’s the practicality behind it. You can juke most abilities just with base movement speed alone, you’re typically using it for reloading over most things. The main problem; you have to be touching the ground to use it. Look at my post history for more.

Also if I had it my way, targets would be stunned if they reached red skull charge and you clicked fire, even through shields. But that may be too op.

I think for bastion his ult’s main weakness on startup is that he can’t move. Not armor or health, he’s the only transform ult that is rooted in place for the startup.

genji can move, soldier can move, brig can move ect. He has to stand still for some reason, so I suggest just allowing him to transform while moving maybe.

For torb, throwing his turrets is what. He has to be with them to build them up, having them instantly level to 2 is broken, level 2 turrets are like a 7th player on your team.

She had this in beta. They reduced it because it was WAY too long. The cooldown is 1.5 seconds by the way, but the game shows it as 2 because of clutter.

Mercy’s base kit doesn’t need to be changed. She’s had the same base kit for over a year and she was balanced with it. She only became OP with the rework :+1:

It has counterplay right now aswell. It can be interrupted. It’s on a fixed 30 sec cooldown so it’s easier to keep track of , so it’s actually better in that regard.

players want more counterplay because its a ult on a cooldown

keeping track of it doesn’t matter because its clearly visible and loud when she tries it, every team fight she just has it. while this change will make her have it less often depending on how you play againts her

Not just a reply to you, but a reply to everyone else who replied to my mercy part, do you want mass res back? I’m not really sure which is better.

Mercy’s weakness back in the day was being a single target healer. That’s where we need another rework that comes in and implements that.

We need Resurrect to be moved out of the base kit because it being along side Damage boost makes Mercy super powerful.

Changing GA doesn’t nerf Mercy it changes her playstyle.

Putting Resurrect as a meter honestly won’t do to much. Sure it will be harder to get a Resurrect but it’s still in her base kit which is just too strong.

They need to be separated.

Yes but no. I do not want a revert. Mass Rez lacked counterplay and was not healthy in it’s previous state.

Tweaks need to be made to the ultimate but Mercy would need an E ability in return.

Such as removing the invuln and having a LoS requirement but in return give her an E ability that shortly amps her healing or something.

I don’t want more and that is not counterplay.

‘Earnable’ rez has been a common rework suggestion that i’d be fine with but the GA CD nerf is unnecessary.

Since mass-rez would be a nerf I guess it would be a viable option going back. Thanks to valk Mercy has no weaknesses anymore and with e-rez the best utility there is. All this together beats Ana, Moira and Lucio by far and creates a stale healer meta.
So going back and tweaking/adjusting things from there sounds good to me. But people dont like hearing it for some reason and act like mass-rez was even more OPAF than the first iteration of valk. Yet it was situational and could be countered which is a reason Mercy saw less play in higher ranks.

it enables you to have more counterplay actually, maybe you don’t want more but majority wants something done with mercy or she will continue being the best forever

I can feel so much bias and hate with some of these dev comments lol also I dont agree with half your changes but carry on

You can call this whiny bias patch #33 where u kill the game to save your own weak hero pool. O wow McCree got no nerf to compensate! What a surprise.
