If I use a MACRO to type "ggwp" in chat with a 0.01s delay between each button press is that still bannable?

I’ve recently got a keyboard where I am able to record Marcos, but I know that using macros to give an advantage is bannable but, I would only want to use a macro that said “ggwp” in chat after a game has finished, but looking into it I have seen that having a macro with more than 1 button press is bannable? and this has 6 button presses in one macro but only 1 button is pressed at one time?

Hopefully someone more well versed on this topic can answer your questions here but as far as I know any type of macros is not allowed at all.

Yeah Macros aren’t allowed.

You’re not going to be banned for a chat macro, plenty of people use them and there’s no game-play advantage. And realistically, Blizzard can’t even track it.

If I were you I’d err on the side of caution and just type out all four of the letters.

Macros are allowed. Read the ToS. It outlines the use of macros.

Despite the spam filter, I think some people would still report you however.

Meaning, it will just take time for you to get banned, if you do.

That being said, you aren’t in direct violation so no, you won’t get insta banned for doing this if that’s what you’re worried about.

typing anything is toxic
Asking this question is toxic
playing the game is toxic

Welcome to gaming

Oh sweet.
Now I can set up some macros of my own.

chat macro has no effect on your gameplay at all

its allowed

Sure you will. Even if it wasn’t against the rules, which it is, everyone would report you and you’d get banned.

It is against the rules because it is spam. But it is also against the “rules” because it is annoying and everyone will report you and subvert the rules anyway.

Some of my friends use a macro to click extremely fast (useful on the hero select screen, it looks hilarious) and they haven’t been banned.

Nah, not everyone would report him.

You’re just trying to be a fear monger.

He knows what he’s doing.

He could just ctrl+v really quickly and spam that way, but he’s probably tired of doing that which is why he’s here.

You’re more likely to get reported for spamming using the macro as it’s more obvious but whether or not you do get banned is another matter.

How on earth is anyone going to know you’re using a macro for something as simple as “ggwp”? I know people who have used it for much long sentences just fine. And where are you getting the notion of spam from?

As far as I can see, the OP asked about using a macro as a convenience so they don’t have to type out the standard post mach phrase every time, I see nothing to imply they intend to spam it in any way.

What do you mean? Isn’t that literally what he said? Typing into chat every 0.01 seconds is spam. Who wouldn’t report such insane spam?

“Why won’t it read!?!?”
0.01 seconds between presses and 6 presses total for the entire message.
He clearly doesn’t want it to spam ggwp at an 0.01 interval and spam filters would not allow it anyway.

From what I can tell he just want it said once for every time he presses the button.
I’m still against any macros but atleast I get ya!

My advice: ask blizzard support.

We all misread the title lol.

He’s absolutely fine. He wants to enter 1 line of “ggwp” with 0.01s between button presses.

100% safe.

Even if it was spammed a few lines, I’d argue it’ll be fine. Context is key.

Chat based macros are fine I believe.

It really comes down to chaining actions. In essence, 1 button press must always be 1 action. You can’t macro Genji or Brig combos for instance, as that’s 1 button press resulting in multiple actions.

Chat based macros I believe are exempt from this.

Hah. Well sure who cares then. I couldn’t imagine this question even being asked unless there was some kind of edge case trying to skirt the rules as a hypothetical.
