originally i assumed if anyone leaves after the 1 minute leaver timer, they’d receive a loss but no leaver penalty; whether the original leaver was on your team or not. but then i had two people on my team ask for when the 1 minute cooldown was over and then left, saying that we wouldnt receive a loss cause the leaver was on the enemy team?
thats wrong right? i just cant find anything that specifically mentions this anywhere on blizzard. neither can i find a full butt rules or guidelines for overwatch the video game that isnt the fan site.
You would think no, but I have been burned by leaving a match after it was supposed to be safe to leave.
Now I’m paranoid and won’t leave until potg starts.
I’m pretty sure it only counts for the team of the leaving player and I leave immediately when those 2 minutes are up.
After 2min there is no panlty. You can check by click leave, if there is no warning, you can leave.
When someone leaves a match, there is a 2 minute countdown. After this countdown, anyone can leave the match without a penalty*, but they will still receive a loss.
This applies to both teams, if someone on the enemy team leaves the match, you can also leave after two minutes.
You can confirm that it’s “safe” to leave if you don’t see the red warning text when you click the leave game button.
*Leaving a match in progress will always count as a loss and will always reduce your SR by a set amount.
What I mean with no penalty is that you will not lose the standard 50SR and you will not get suspended from competitive play, provided you waited out the 2 minute countdown.
it’s a dumb system… useless just like reporting…
there’s nothing in this game that punishes bad behavior…
toxic chat = slap on the wrist
leaving game/ragequit = slap on both wrists
throwing the game = get a medal
trolling = get a medal
feeding = get a medal
AFK = slap your mouse a few times and nobody ever finds out… also, get a medal!
